National Trust place, great day out at the hall, built by Bess of Hardwick. The ruins of the old hall can also be explored, this is an English Heritage site but your National Trust card will also give you entrance. If the weather is bad the ruin may be closed.

An Elizabethan manor house run by the National Trust. It has beautiful tapestries and is set in a lovely park, with superb views. Stainsby Mill (also National Trust) and Hardwick Inn, are also located on the estate.
