Situated on the south eastern edge of Dartmoor, Haytor has spectacular views across Dartmoor and the South Devon coast and offers good opportunities for you to experience Dartmoor’s fascinating past and the stunning wildlife and heritage within a short walk of the National Park Visitor Centre.
A lovely drive up onto the moor. Two car parks depending how far you want to walk. Walk up and around the rocks, longer walks in this area. You will often see ponies. Grassy areas for a picnic. Great views on a clear day.
A great spot for seeing Dartmoor ponies and sheep as well as an impressive rock structure, fun to clamber up and over. There is loads of parking nearby, all free.
Granite tors are a feature of Dartmoor and this is the biggest. Handy National Park Visitors Centre and parking.

“This is our real local - just a hop away from the front door. You'll love to sit outside and watch the boats in the harbour (we also have some very large ships that loom across this view which is always an intriguing things to see). In the winter they put the carpet down and have a wood-burning stove, you can see the harbour whist sipping something warming! Good standard pub fare served here.”
