The neighborhood of Rockaway Beach is a long stretch of boardwalk along the beach in Queens and home to a diverse intersection of communities. It’s amazing that you can be in New York City while watching the sunset over ocean waves. Since you’re already in Queens, check out Edgemere Farm, too—an urban farm with a rustic barn, restaurants, and events. If you’re looking for peace and calm, it’s quieter in the winter. Beech town over the Maine Park Bridge. Beeches include Rockaway and Riis Park. Access to the Ferry on 101st street to travel to lower Manhattan.
If I’m going to the beach in NYC - this is where I’m going! Take the ferry from Red Hook south directly to Rockaway for a beach day. Sunsets here are spectacular.
