Was ihr unternehmen werdet

Your Old Growth Forest Stroll with me is designed to be an intimate experience between you and nature. I will guide up to four guests maximum at a time.

We will meet in the parking lot of Lighthouse Park, and after a short introduction to the park and some gentle stretching, we'll be on our way.

We'll explore the park’s eastern trails, which are lesser travelled by tourists and more by locals. At Eagle Point, we'll stop for a brief rest and some refreshments while you take in the views of Burrard Inlet and Vancouver. Then we make our way back through the forest via the Valley of the Giants. This trail has examples of giant trees hundreds of years old.

Along the Old Growth Forest Stroll, I provide you with interesting bits of information about native flora and facilitate techniques to promote relaxation, reduce stress, stimulate your senses; helping you to connect more mindfully with nature.

***Please note that this experience is weather dependent and may be cancelled on short notice. Walking in the forest while light showers are occurring feels refreshing, but if it is heavy rain or forecast to while we are out on the trails, this can create unsafe conditions, and an uncomfortable environment for you to be outside.

Hi, I'm Cliff Thorbes, your guide for a unique walk in an old-growth rainforest. I love spending time outdoors and promoting wellness in others by facilitating a connection with the nature.

I'm a Horticultural Therapist Registered with the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association and hold a current certification in Wilderness First Aid. As a long-time resident of beautiful West Vancouver BC, I have insider's local knowledge of the most popular parks in my area.

One of my favorite places to connect with nature in West Vancouver is Lighthouse Park, a biologically rich and one of the few remaining old-growth rainforests in the Lower Mainland. I'm captivated by native flora, and excited to share interesting bits of information about them with you while the forest naturally stimulates your senses and is calming.

Wo ihr sein werdet

For the naturalist, Lighthouse Park offers tremendous variety within its 75 hectares. The diversity of environmental conditions within the park boundaries and the relatively undisturbed forest provide an opportunity to see native flora in near virgin states. Giant Douglas-fir dominate the forest, with Western redcedar and hemlock. Bigleaf maple, Pines and Arbutus form the forest understory along with a rich variety of shrubs, ferns, and mosses.
