The Magical Cabin on Back Creek

Magic is the word most people use when they visit this hidden gem. Built in 1939 as a fishing cabin by a gentleman who incorporated box cars as rafters and beams, dates still visible since removing the attic. By far the best place I've ever lived. I decided to share it with others who love to explore, who love listening to the voice of the creek or who come just to sit on the porch high above the creek with a spouse, friend, family, or alone. The Rock Retreat

This beautiful log cabin, previously known as Indian Creek Cabin, has been an important part of the Hanging Rock Community for many years. It began as the Hanging Rock Outdoor Center. The property is adjacent to the Indian Creek Trail area. It is within a few miles of the Lower Cascade Falls, Dan River, Moore's Spring bike trails, and of course, Hanging Rock State Park. Adventure awaits with ziplining, kayaking, canoeing, and river tubing excursions within minutes of the front door.

Handicapped friendly, incl. paved drive, wide doorways, zero entry shower, no stairs. Modern amenities. 16x80 Dog Run. The Cabin is a luxurious rural escape, with a 3-person hot tub. Located on a permaculture homestead and native plant sanctuary, the space overlooks the garden and is surrounded by forest. Natural/local materials were used throughout (built in 2023). For larger groups, check out the guest house next door (Airbnb: Guest House on Homestead near Floyd/Blacksburg). ~10 miles to Floyd, ~20 miles to Blacksburg, ~35 miles to Roanoke.
