A 40 year celebration of being married. It was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy our time together. Many highlights the hot tub view the peacock and peahen dance every night... The night flyover from the herons. Martyn was a perfect host very helpful. Perfect memories thank you.

We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

We had such a lovely stay! It was well located for getting out for local walks and was wonderful to come back to at the end of the day (the hot tub and sauna were wonderful after a day hiking!). The place had everything we needed and Jane and Steve were really helpful - thank you!

Beautiful cottage. Was perfect for us and the dogs. Fully enclosed fenced garden with a gate down to a quiet riverside walk. The hottub was huge and warm ready for our arrival. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen. We only stayed for 1 night so cannot comment on the local area as we did not do much exploring but we noticed a spar walking distance just down the road and a few cafes.

Fantastic location. However it is on a main road. I did know that in advance and wasn’t too noisy anyways. The cottage is lovely and spacious but the windows do need a bit of love. They will need replacing soon as they don’t close well. The hot tub was super and well needed after a day out on the bike or out hiking. Really enjoyed the short break and the sun shone for all the days I was here.

Another wonderful stay at Red Stables. The views from the lounge and hot tub are to die for, you're absolutely in the middle of the countryside and it's so quiet and peaceful. Head to the tub to completely wind down or stay connected via the high speed WiFi if you must! You can stream movies or your favourites on the internet connected Tv. Plus there's a great Farm Shop and Cafe five minutes away in the car. Highly recommended.

Our stay at The Stables was heaven. Paul welcomed us and showed us around and had even set up the hot tub for us arriving. The house was immaculate with everything you could possibly need and beautifully decorated too. We loved the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. The garden was beautiful and so peaceful and our two dogs loved it, it was completely secure for them which meant we could relax. The view from the garden and the location were wonderful, it was just what we needed. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back sometime soon. Thank you for being wonderful hosts and for our cheeseboard and Prosecco it was such a thoughtful touch.

Beautiful home, very spacious and plenty of amenities. felt right at home! perfect for toddlers too. Ian was great, very helpful and easily contactable.

Lovely little house. Received advice on the way in that the house was ready and we could check in early without asking if we could. Just a 30 min drive to Scafell for the corridor and popular routes up. Great pizza place nearby and curry delivery spot on.

we had a fantastic 4 days in the cottage, everything was as described, what a lovely quiet place with fantastic views. would definitely recommend and would love to stop again.

Most enjoyable few days in this warm, cosy cottage. Lovely walks for the dogs and so many little birds! Linda very friendly and able to make recommendations for places to eat in area beyond Leadhills. Many thanks.

Really friendly host, great cottage in a beautiful location.

The cottage was lovely inside and out. Great and peaceful location. Close to everything you need. Inside is a very cosy, clean and well furnished place. All small details made our stay even better. The host was great, left a lot of information about everything (what to visit, best restaurants, pubs shops and cafes, how to recycle etc.). Moffat is a beautiful place, locals are lovely and most of the places are extremely dog-friendly. Our dog Vicky, which is normally quite anxious with new places and people, relaxed right away at the cottage and was super happy to get a treat or two from the lovely people around. Absolutely worth it!!

heel prettige cottage, goed voorzien en prima geschikt voor twee personen. hele mooie omgeving en binnen rijafstand van zowel Yorkshire dales als het Lake district. Pub met vriendelijke eigenaar in de buurt. We hebben een erg fijne vakantie gehad en hebben genoten van het contact met de Engelsen.

If you value peace, quiet, beautiful surroundings, do not hesitate to visit this place. I definitely recommend it, the house is equipped with everything you need, spotlessly clean, drinking coffee in the garden you can admire the walking deer, you really don't need anything more to relax .

Really nice place. Really nice town. Really nice pub. Wouldn’t recommend to people who are very fussy or sensitive to noise as it’s connected to the pub beer garden. But if you’re normal, sociable, friendly and reasonable this place is wonderful. My daughter (10) and her friend, plus me and my girlfriend and my mum had an absolutely smashing time and will be back.

It is a tragedy that our livelihoods now rely on other people’s personal opinions on the internet. However, Joan was lovely and I wish her all the best possible luck. We had a great night.

From the moment I booked, Angela and Hugh have been proactively making extra effort to make sure our stay is comfortable. The directions to the property were to the point and Hugh walked us through the property and made sure we had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and beautiful..much more than the pictures. The surroundings were beautiful. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could need. The sun room was the best to sit and enjoy the green surroundings without getting cold, kids enjoyed the board games and movies on TV. It was a memorable stay, would love to visit again.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Rittson Cottage! It's such a cosy, beautifully decorated place, and had everything we needed. Situated in a lovely, quiet area located only a few mins walk from the centre of Penrith. Being only a short drive from the lakes, we spent most our days exploring and returning in the evenings to enjoy the warm interior of the cottage. Matthew was very responsive, friendly and provided clear instructions for checking-in and finding the cottage. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely love to return to Rittson Cottage.
