Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Waterfront home with 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and scenic views. Welcome to this Sweet Sanctuary overlooking water, islands, eagles, and a ferry or two. Activities include bike riding, hiking, beach combing, kayaking, fishing and crabbing, clamming, sailing . It sits above the waterfront for lovely water views. A sizeable deck wraps the house on the waterside where you can enjoy a BBQ evening. Recently remodeled, it is wonderfully fresh and new. **Guests with Pets must tell owner. $35/night.

Bright One-Bedroom in Heart of Lopez Village

This apartment sits on the second and third floors of a colorful craftsman building that also houses Vita's Restaurant and artist studios. The deck looks out on Lopez village with water and sunset views. Bike rental, art galleries, groceries, a seasonal farmers market, and Holly B's Bakery are all a short walk away. Vita's also hosts live music on its patio twice a week June through August. The music is eclectic and fun but please note it can get loud in the apartment during the performances.

Get away to the quiet island

I built this house as a place for my family to escape to. Open floor plan lots of room on the porch. Fantastic sunset view over water. There is room for many, though during the phase 3 of CoViD-19, San Juan County only allows me to groups of 6 or less. Rental includes access to the 8.3 acres. There is a flat lawn suitable for croquet, and yard games. Most of the place is wooded with paths. Some paths lead to ne of the best swimming ponds on the island.
