Awesome beach house. We had a great time. Local fishermen took us to buy fresh fish and lobster. Lolo, the caretaker was brill. Highly recommended.

We had a great weekend at the house in Chuspa. The house is just what we like, it is open and in the middle of nature. Pelicans flying by and freedom to sit and watch the sunset. However this is thanks to our adventurous nature as we do think that it is not adequately described. For the price in Venezuela we did expect more luxury and / or amenities. We did not really expect to be camping, which is in the end a bit what we were doing. We normally pay 40.000Bs for a nice posada with clean sheets, hot water, drinking water and breakfast included and here we payed 400.000 Bs a night. We have been living in Venezuela for a while and we have come to understand that certain things such as impassable roads, shortage of supplies, cut off off water and or electricity can be part of life. However we did not pay Venezuelan prices for this but we payed international prices for this rental. When we arrived we found ourselves on a road that you can only access with a 4x4 but that is not at all clear in the listing. If you would have booked this and arrived without a 4x4 you would not be able to access the house by car. Which would mean a 20 minute walk through a muddy road with your luggage and all supplies. Next to that when we did arrive, there was no drinking water set out for us. When we asked about drinking water the caretaker looked a bit sheepishly and pulled two and a half refilled frozen water bottles out of the freezer. The two big blue water bottles were empty. We were a bit thrown by this and just by luck we had our own nalgenes with water which would get us through the night. We would deal with this tomorrow. Also we found that the fridge did not work and stank. Even though we were originally going to be here with 8 people, and for various reasons they had to cancel the day before we arrived (which turned out to be a good thing as they did not have 4x4’s) the house was only prepared for one bedroom. Which they chose. The caretaker showed us the other rooms but none of them were aired, cleaned or made up. We were tired and cold and wanted a hot shower but found that there was only cold water (also not mentioned in the listing). We can survive without hot water, which we have done plenty of times, but not when we pay $115 a night. The house does not feel clean. The bathroom in the main "house” is dirty and the seat broken off. The kitchen towels were just hanging in the kitchen and it was unclear whether they were clean or not, they did not smell very clean to us. The plates are unprotected stacked in the kitchen and we had to wash them all as...
