Our Victorian flat is on two floors and is located in the lovely Bruntsfield area of the city, one of Edinburgh's most central neighbourhoods. We live in a quiet cul-de-sac but are only a couple of minutes from the bustling shops and cafes of Bruntsfield.
Although our home is Victorian with high ceilings and classic cornicing and shutters, we have decorated and furnished it in a contemporary style. The comfortable double bedroom is large and newly decorated, the window has the original shutters and overlooks the walled and rather mature(!) back garden.
You have exclusive private use of the shower room with WC which is right next to your room. A help yourself breakfast (cereal, toast, juice etc) is also included. Help yourself to tea and coffee at any time. Also included is all your fresh bed linen, towels, hairdryer, umbrellas (!) plus free Wifi.
In the winter we have the wonderful Edinburgh's Christmas which runs this year from 18th November 2017 to 6th January 2018. We have Scottish and European Christmas Markets, ice skating, shows, funfairs, Street of Light and much much more! Then of course is our world famous Hogmanay and New Year's celebrations which go on for days!!
We are also perfectly located for sightseeing and for visiting Edinburgh's fabulous and world renowned International Festival and Fringe in August every year which attracts thousands of people and performers from all over the world. We are in easy walking distance of many Festival venues.
At the top of the road there are five buses that will take you into the heart of the city in a matter of minutes. Attractions include the Castle, Holyrood Palace, Princes Street, Royal Mile, Museums, wonderful art galleries, the Botanical Gardens and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Great restaurants and bars plus much much more! We usually walk into town, by strolling across the lovely Meadows park - about 20 mins. Our guests love this pretty walk through the park.
We are also only 5 minutes walk to Napier University Merchiston Campus.
Bruntsfield itself is full of coffee shops, bars, restaurants & artisan food shops plus quirky independent shops and boutiques. We are within easy walking distance of five theatres and five cinemas not to mention many Festival venues! We have lived here for more than 25 years and have a good knowledge of the city so we are happy to help you with recommendations and directions.
We have a large British Blue cat called Silly, you can see her in the photographs. She is friendly but quite shy and elderly so she wont bother you and she doesn't go into your room. We also have three sons who you may see if they are back home in Edinburgh.
Parking here is problematic as we are central, so we wouldn't recommend bringing a car. There is free parking in our area between 5.30pm and 08.30 am Monday to Friday and free parking at weekends. The rest of the time, you have to pay the meter (max stay of 4 hours). Alternatively you can park outside the zone a couple of miles away. However, you really don't need a car as you can walk or take a bus everywhere!
We think our home is perfectly situated for a wonderful sightseeing or Festival going holiday in Edinburgh!
We both work during the day so we may not always be around, but we will always be contactable by phone or email.
Check in and check out times can be flexible depending on our work commitments - just ask!
If you have any questions please just ask, we're happy to help.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
