Ideally facing NE on the bay, this quiet waterfront apartment with quality fit-out has ever-changing sea views and spectacular sunrises. Relax in the sun or use as a base to explore & with your own keys you can come & go. There's a bayside path to the golf club (400 m), pub & village shops (1 km). It's only 40 mins from City, Airport, Rainforests and Gold Coast, yet so quiet & peaceful. Cold breakfast items, beverages, snacks etc are provided. Request a discount for stays more than 3 nights.
The studio apartment is an independent part of our home. It is modern and tastefully furnished. It can be open to enjoy the views and bay breezes or snug and private with the block-out curtains closed. The granite patio is yours to enjoy with an adjustable shade awning, manicured garden and those views of the bay as the tide goes in and out.
The apartment is more spacious and light than the photos indicate as I've been told by many guests. It has high ceilings, marble floors and bathroom, high quality fixtures, curtains and paintings.
It has a fully equipped kitchenette with convection grill microwave, hotplates and electric frypan if you want to cook. There's also a free public barbecue down by the water in front.
The bathroom is equipped with shampoo, conditioner and soaps as well as towels. There are beach towels for taking out on trips.
The sofa faces the TV and DVD, as well as the view, with surround sound and some DVDs are provided for your use. We have a few more upstairs. There are also books about the area and an assortment of novels.
The bed is Queen sized with cotton sheets, a quilt and cotton blanket and an assortment of pillows to suit everyone.
The floors are natural marble which is absorbent and easily etched by acids such as fruit juice and scratched by sand and any hard surface. We'd ask that you please wipe your shoes well on the front mat and avoid bringing in sand and dragging or rolling cases or furniture on the floor.
There is a security screen on the sliding glass door beside the bed that can be left open except in driving rain. The louvres near the kitchenette and the ones in the bathroom are also security screened and can be left open for flow through ventilation at all times. The ceiling fan provides extra air movement when it's hot or the air conditioner can be used of a day time. At night the air conditioner compressor unit is a bit noisy up in our living area and for the neighbours, so unless it's a very hot night, so we'd ask you to use it sparingly (see Rules).
We now also have a folding arm awning over the patio area for adjustable shade in summer. The granite patio has table and chairs to enjoy breakfast, read a book or just the enjoy the view and breezes. The manicured lawn and gardens enhance the experience.
Parking is in the driveway or the garage by arrangement.
We can be accessed for assistance via the intercom in the apartment or at our front door round the side of the house. We live above and will endeavour to keep our noise to a minimum for your comfort and give you as much privacy as we can.

We will leave you to be on your own as much as you like, but will be available if you need assistance or a chat about the area and will try to help if we can. There's an information folder in the apartment as well with Things to Do. Please let us know if you'd like to use some of our equipment i.e. bicycles, fishing lines, gym stuff, picnic gear or golf clubs.
Our neighbourhood is safe, friendly and everything convenient is close, but out of sight & hearing! We are 40 minutes by road from the airport and Brisbane City and the Gold Coast in what was a farming village.
I include a things to do page in your information pack: Across the bay is Queensland's best and most little known gem, other than to locals:- North Stradbroke Island, where you can get close and see dolphins, turtles, manta rays, other marine and land wildlife such as koalas, wallabies and goannas every day and even whales in season.
Closer in on the bay is Coochiemudlo Island where there's a safe sandy swimming beach and you can hire a kayak or paddleboat on the weekends or school holidays. There are also the Southern Moreton Bay islands to explore. All of the islands are reached by passenger and vehicle ferries from Redland Bay, Victoria Point or Cleveland. You will have an information page on things to do on the reverse of your welcome and I've included maps, ferry timetables and other information in the folder.
Walking is the best way to see the local area and to dine at the golf club (5 minute walk), which is open 7 days for lunch, snacks, afternoon tea and dinner. Walking also works for the Redland Bay pub and village shops (15 minute walk). Menus are in the kitchenette top drawer.
Getting here is best by car and also travel to Brisbane, the airport and Gold Coast is about 40 minutes each by car in different directions.

There is a new house build starting next door some time this year, probably in the first half. We aren't sure exactly when until it happens. Please feel free to contact me before booking to check on likely impact to you. Building regulations require them not to start till after 6:30 on weekdays and they may work some Saturday mornings. The view won't be affected, nor the peace of an evening, night and early morning. My current guests and others who've booked have thought it wouldn't bother them as they have been out and about during the day anyhow. I will also apply a discount for multi-day stays during the building period and offer special rates of 3 nights or more, so just ask! The weekly discount is automatic.
We do have dogs but they are kept upstairs and in the back yard unless you want to meet them.
Our co-host will be our 25 year old son Daniel and his partner Carly for when we are away this year. They'll make sure everything is ready, greet you and generally provide the same level of service as Cathy has become known for. They will just be a phone call away instead of intercom!
Quiet time after 10pm and before 7am please. Please remember that this is our home and in a very quiet neigbourhood. We prefer that you don't use the air conditioner unless the ceiling fan and open doors and windows (some with security) don't provide enough ventilation for comfort. It is cooler here by the bay than in Brisbane. In winter we'll have a column heater available, but the apartment gets plenty of sun facing north in winter. We appreciate your consideration.
The floors are natural polished marble and are easily scratched by grit and also etched by acids leaving a permanently dull patch. Don't be concerned about normal use as it's very forgiving and non-slip. Absorbing spills of acid drinks with paper towel or cloth and water rinsing are normally adequate, but marble safe cleaners are under the kitchen sink for anything more sticky. The marble is sealed so the liquid should sit on top for a while before absorption. Please wipe sand off before entering and beach towels can be hung on the outside steps up the side of the apartment to dry. Please also avoid dragging suitcases etc. Thank you for caring enough to read this.
Wenn du bis 24 Stunden vor deiner Reise stornierst, erhältst du eine volle Rückerstattung inklusive der Service-Gebühren.
Hi I'm Cathy, a Brisbane native and have lived in the Redlands for over 20 years. I'm retired now, so am around a lot, though I play golf when it's not too hot. I also read on the deck taking in our wonderful view and enjoy walks by the sea, our garden and cooking. I can try to assist you with recommendations for places to go. Lindsay still works, but loves his fishing in a kayak, boat or on land and golf too. We both want to do more travelling ourselves in the coming years and will use Airbnb when we can. We've met many lovely guests and look forward to meeting more and hopefully some great hosts too.
