The Green Cabin is a purpose-designed self-catering guest suite. It is a contemporary addition to a 19th century lock-keeper's house with its own entrance and complete privacy set in a beautiful riverside location at the heart of Ireland's Ancient East where a diverse group of visitors may explore and enjoy its 5,000 years of history.
The fully equipped, modern unit includes a living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and a private outside deck. The property is located on four acres of private gardens and meadow with miles of canal and riverside walks immediately adjacent. It is beside a working canal lock where you may observe the passing boats and barges and perhaps contemplate the lines of Patrick Kavanagh's poetry:
"And look! a barge comes bringing from Athy
And other far-flung towns mythologies."
