The Swamp Cabin is a beautiful cozy cabin on Dead River Road in Uvalda, GA. Big windows overlook a beautiful cypress swamp. Lounge in a large claw foot tub while enjoying the view. Or enjoy the rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the swamp. The bathroom has a two seat shower. Fenced and gated at the street. Convenience and privacy - the best of both worlds! The cypress swamp separates this property from the Oconee River which is visible through the swamp at times.
I designed this cabin for three purposes: 1. I was planning to give macrobiotic cooking lessons there. 2. I also planned to do massage therapy there. 3. We also, originally, planned to use it as a personal weekend get away simply to relax and cook out, and get together with family and friends.
As I had in mind having cooking classes there, I had the gas stove top in the counter so that people could belly up to the counter and watch their food being cooked; therefore, I cook facing the room and the beautiful view of the swamp.
The porcelain tile on the floors coordinates with the tile on the counter tops. The walls and ceiling are natural wood. No sheetrock!
I had a "swamp spa" in mind when I added a large claw foot tub installed right in the big room. It is only one room except for the bathroom and a large closet. There is a sofa bed, a massage table, a large claw foot tub, a kitchen, and some very nice, comfortable chairs in the one, very spacious room.
It is approximately three miles from Buzzy's a convenience store that sells gas as well as a hot buffet style breakfast and lunch. I believe supper is short order.
It is also approximately seven miles from Benton Lee's Steakhouse on the Altamaha River. A number of celebrities have visited the restaurant and they frequently have tour busses come bringing tourists from Savannah, etc.
The neighborhood is rural. The roads are paved. The neighbors are friendly and usually quiet. The public boat ramp is close by. The property is next to wooded lots that I also purchased to ensure privacy.
There is a concrete slab where a cookhouse once stood. It is a great place for a fire pit or a grill.

You will have use of the entire cabin and yard located on the wetlands.
I need to mention that, although the one room cabin has a very spacious feel (and is spacious), there are a couple of areas that might be a tight squeeze for a very large person. Going from the main room into the bathroom, you have to go between the tub and the washing machine. This space is probably less than 2 feet in width and then you go through the bathroom door. I imagine that could be a tight squeeze for a very large person as well. I have never, personally, seen anyone have any difficulty going through these spaces but I started noticing it recently after having a couple of guests that were very large people. One of them suggested I remove the bathroom door and replace it with a curtain, which would only give one or two more inches of room! That's when I started to consider that might also be a tight squeeze for a large person. I have done a lot of massage therapy there and have had a lot of friends and relatives stay there before I put it on airbnb and I have never personally seen anyone have any difficulty getting through these areas. Only recently, when I had a couple of very large guests, did it even occur to me; therefore, I wanted to mention it just in case someone might need to take that into consideration.

I am a semi-retired self employed Licensed Massage Therapist. I currently live in Vidalia and enjoy playing at the river and the swamp cabin. I love paddling on the river in canoes, kayaks, and SUP boards. I am also now offering our lake house in Vidalia on airbnb. It is a small lake but is still fun for SUP board paddling and fishing off the dock or even the back yard! I was born in South Georgia, grew up in Orlando, Florida, spent eight years in Jacksonville, Florida, before moving to Vidalia, Georgia where I now reside.
If someone asked me what are the five things I could not live without, they would have to be:
4. Shelter (but only in severe weather).
What feeds my Spirit and restores my Soul are being in nature, especially the ocean, a river, a lake, or even a nice pool in the beautiful outdoors. Hiking a mountain trail with streams and small waterfalls is extremely energizing and joyful to me. I find my energy being quickly depleted when I have to stay indoors. That is the reason I designed both my cabins with large windows to always give me feeling of being outside in beautiful nature settings. Being with animals has a wonderful, soothing effect on me. I usually keep my dog, Happy with me whenever possible.
I love food cooked outdoors better than in the kitchen. I particularly enjoy food cooked on sandbars in dutch ovens over hot coals! In my opinion, everything is better outdoors!
I used to offer massage therapy on the dock at the river and on the porch at the Emerald Forest Swamp Cabin. Even a massage on a pleasant evening outdoors is better than indoors. At least it is to me.
My style of airbnb hosting is to meet the guest at the cabin, spend some time showing them around, helping them get online, etc., then leave them to enjoy themselves and being as close as a phone call in case they need something or have questions.
My life motto is to live in the moment and appreciate my precious life in the short time I have to enjoy this amazing, beautiful world, and to try to bring good, positive, loving energy whenever I am with people.
