1920's Spanish home has separate charming art studios set in a garden menagerie. The sunny spaces are designed to evoke Frida Kahlo's Casa Azule and are proximate to varied special animals.
The studios all have individual entrances. Each has a tiny kitchenette, sweet little bath, and is furnished with hand crafted rustic pieces. The claw foot tub is quite cute and fun for bubble baths, but note that it is vintage, thus not designed for taller folks.
This listing is for the downstairs 2nd Studio only, see photo captions. An adjacent small room with extra bed may be added. Price for adjacent space varies, as do the weekend rates. In general, the second studio is set up for a single person, although the adjacent room may be added for friends not traveling as a couple. (Please see upstairs listing if you are traveling with a partner).
Studios view garden and barn yard where bougainvillea covered arbors shade amiable chickens, rabbits, goats, pigs, etc.. There are art supplies for guest use and a special craft area. Resident artists offer classes.

Walk to the city's best urban hip/haute shopping, eateries and entertainment. Steps or a bike ride away are: The Grove, Farmer's Market, Pacific Design Center, Runyon Canyon, The Arc-Light, Dolby, and Sundance Theaters, Beverly Center, Sunset Blvd., House of Blues, Whole Foods, Poinsettia Park's new outdoor gym, LA County Museum of Art, The Broad Contemporary, The Craft and Folk art Museum. Combine the best of country and city living!
Please note that there are special restrictions regarding this setting. Because the studios are accessed through a garden gate proximate to the animals we can not accommodate additional visitors, if you are joining friends please plan to meet them off-site. The animals are very sensitive to voices so this setting is only appropriate for people who enjoy hearing critters, but can be comfortable being very quiet themselves while anywhere on the property. We are an urban wildlife sanctuary. In addition to the barnyard pals we rehabilitate and release raccoons, possums, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. .We are participating in a renewal project to reintroduce frogs native to the environment (although so far they seem to prefer a neighbor's pond). We have no televisions, and ask that guests use headphones if listening to music. Neither smoking or illegal drugs are allowed on the property. Your pets are welcome if friendly and quiet, they are only allowed in limited areas, but there are some private patios for their enjoyment.

We are LA artists, but have designed spaces to pretend we live elsewhere, perhaps in Pooh's Tree, Calder's Circus or on a flowery ranchito, next door to Trotsky in Coyoacan. Such pet filled places aren't for everyone, but consider a stay with us if you like quiet folks and friendly farm animals!
