The Log Cabin on Neil's Creek is situated on private land inside the Pisgah National Forest at the foot of Mount Mitchell in the high mountains. Experience the relaxing qualities of nature, waiting for you any time of year.
This is our cabin home. We expect you to respect the property, but to have a good time!
Maximum two dogs per visit. Unreported dogs may result in a charge to your security deposit. Pet hair should be vacuumed up, and no "surprises" left for the cleaners.
Please put sheets in the washer and start the cycle before you leave.
There is no garbage pick-up in the forest, so please either take your garbage bags with you, or leave $2 per bag for our cleaner.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FALL/WINT: right now the forests around the cabin are very dry and there is a high fire danger. There have been cabin fires in this area, and so we are revising our fire policies for your personal safety. We have temporarily removed the electric grill from the back porch. Please use the oven for grilling - NO FIRES outside the cabin, and please do not dump any ashes outside the house, on the property or in the creek. Please be aware that the cut wood on our property is mostly hemlock which doesn't burn well. It will char and smolder. Creosote is created in the chimney, which is also a fire danger. We have found charred logs that people have thrown out into the yard or in the creek. If these logs are even slightly warm, they have the potential for igniting the dry leaves in the yard.
So, if you want to use the fireplace, either bring your own wood, or purchase it at one of the local convenience stores or groceries.
We love the mountains. There is always something magical about a sunset, spring flowers, summer growth, autumn colors, and winter renewal. We enjoy the music, herbs, canning, farmers' markets, and various mountain crafts.
