You will find it hard to find anywhere else as peaceful & secluded as Ford Wetley Cottage, a beautifully luxurious appointed converted barn in the Peak District. Secluded & surrounded by fields, trees, streams, waterfalls, woodland. Peaceful & relaxing, log burning stove, outdoor BBQ & garden seating.

Der Wohnraum

Chosen as one of the 'Top 50 Places to stay for Christmas' in the National Guardian Newspaper in September 2016, Ford Wetley Cottage offers you peace and tranquility amongst the beauty of Ford. Secluded and peaceful in one of England's most scenic beauty spots, our cottage is set at the end of a dead end lane 5 minute walk from a historic Quaker Hamlet of Ford with a picturesque river running through and old pretty Quaker farm houses with their mullion windows.

Guests often comment on the feeling of space, tranquility, seclusion and beauty of Ford Wetley Cottage, however within 6 miles there are the market towns of Leek, Ashbourne and Alton Towers theme park. There is also a fantastic Wildlife park, Farmhouse cafe/shop and award winning Indian Restaurant within 2 miles.

There are 3 en-suite bedrooms, all with a shower, toilet and one also has a bath. Beds are extremely comfy with additional toppers. There is one room downstairs with a King size comfy bed, this has just one step down for those less able with stairs. An upstairs double and a twin room with an additional spare bed if required, plus two travel cots. Luxurious Molton Brown handsoap and towels are supplied in all of the bathrooms.

A rustic farmhouse kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including kitchen roll, T-Towels, oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and sugar with a wooden table to all sit around, dishwasher and washing machine for your use, all tablets and powder supplied. The stunning oak floored, exposed stone lounge is well equipped with two large leather sofas, Flat Screen TV, Juke box Hi FI, an extensive range of books, games, toys and plenty of DVDs and a lovely log burning stove. Perfect to curl up in front of and enjoy a well earned drink.

There is a private garden with a bench, wooden table and chairs, a BBQ/Fire pit for those colder evenings, and a large field where kids can play. This is sometime home to our Miniature Shetland Ponies or they will be in adjoining fields. There are streams and waterfalls to explore. There is plenty of safe off road car parking for 4/5 cars.

You can walk straight from the cottage around the Picturesque former 'Quaker' village of Ford, across the fields to the new Country Kitchen farm shop and cafe (30 mins walk), or the local pub in Onecote is a very wet Welly walk across fields (20 Mins).

We are mostly here to welcome guests in and then leave people to enjoy their stay. We are generally around to help and advise you, however when we are away, we are contactable by phone and email. There are always people around to help if required.

Great Sightings of birds and wildlife are to be seen; especially the swallows of Spring, birds of prey, owls and for the 'early bird' maybe a fox or badger. Ford Wetley Cottage is a lovely peaceful environment, stunning walks from the cottage or near by in the Manifold Valley, Dovedale Valley, The Roaches etc

There is a limited bus service but a car is essential to get around.

You will be welcomed with a 'welcome hamper' of a bottle of wine, milk, free range eggs, a selection of jams and a few nibbles. There will be a basket of logs for you and you can purchase extra for £6 per basket.

All freshly laundered bedding and towels are included to make your stay more comfortable.

Weitere wichtige Infos

This cottage is for those who like peace and quiet, natural beautiful surroundings, those who appreciate the countryside and enjoy exploring. There is Wifi in the cottage but to get mobile signal, you have to walk into the field as we are surrounded by hills.

The main shops are a 6 mile drive and although you can walk to a local pub and farm shop and cafe, it is a muddy welly walk across fields and up hills.

Those who visit Ford Wetley go away with a feeling of peace and tranquility. Children love exploring the countryside and groups enjoy sitting outside by the BBQ in the long Summer evenings and cooking up the local produce and then putting some wood on the BBQ to turn it into a fire pit to keep warm.

If this sounds like the sort of holiday that you are looking for, please contact us to book. We can make suggestions for your stay if you wish as we are at the heart of the stunning Peak District attractions as well as the beauty and diversity of North Staffordshire and the Potteries.

Please note that although we have Wifi. It is not super fast. It is good for checking email and looking up places to go but it won't be what you expect in a town. There is a cafe close by who's Wifi is faster where you can use.

Perfect cottage to get away from it all. Surrounded by beautiful country walks and plenty of attractions. An ideal location for visiting the manifold trail and Dovedale. Access is fairly good and the instructions to find the cottage are spot on. Its a fantastic space with fully functioning kitchen and a large living space with TV and DVDs and games to chill out with after a days walking. We also had a day at Alton Towers which is really close. The hosts are so nice and helpful. They are 30 seconds walk away but the layout is such that it gives you privacy. Great place and we hope to be back soon.

Fabulous! Would definitely recommend the cottage for anyone wanting a peaceful break in a home from home environment. The cottage was spotlessly clean and fully equipped for self catering. There were an abundance of books, games, maps and guides etc, we used the OS maps and walking guides to plan our days. The cottage is spacious and cosy at the same time. There is plenty outside space, again well equipped for BBQ,s and al fresco dining. Louise and Adrian were great hosts, subtly on hand to answer questions and make recommendations without invading space. The welcome hamper of wine, eggs, nibbles and preserves was very much appreciated and a lovely touch. We have already starting talking about returning to the cottage in the summer and very much look forward to it.

Loved everything about this stay- cottage was fabulous and the perfect base for exploring the beautiful surroundings. We visited Chatsworth, Poole's Cavern in Buxton and Alton Towers, enjoyed an evening barbeque in the lovely garden and wandered around the local fields to meet the ponies and farm animals. Louise was a fantastic host- really welcoming (welcome basket was a lovely touch!) and full of suggestions for things to do/ places to eat in the area. The Cottage Kitchen was a great recommendation for delicious food and just round the corner. Really sad to leave- 10/10, 5 stars, would definitely stay again in the future!

This is such a beautiful location very peaceful but near to many fabulous scenic places. Eating out wasn't a great success locally but it seems the closest 'pub' is being 'done up'; The Jervis (I think it's called) so this may be a good option in the future. The house was so ideal though we didn't want to go out and eat!
