Welcome to my private studio apartment with a separate entrance and private bath. There is a mini fridge/freezer, a microwave, toaster oven, two-burner hot plate, electric frying pan and coffee pot. Recently renovated bathroom, fresh towels, wash cloths and soap, freshly laundered sheets and bedspread. Iron and ironing board upon request.

Sykesville has just been named The Coolest Small Town in America! We are thrilled. Come and enjoy what this wonderful little town has to offer!

Die Unterkunft

My apartment is decorated in the minimalist style--full-sized bed with new linens and breadspread, bedside tables and lamps, plenty of counter space for eating and preparing food. Mini fridge stocked with snacks, breakfast for first few days, a toaster oven and microwave and a coffee maker. The bathroom has a large shower, new vanity and toilet, recessed lighting, mid-century flooring and tiles, newly painted--a fun and eclectic style.

Zugang für Gäste

You are welcome to share my deck, which overlooks the back of the property. A lovely place to have morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening, read a book, enjoy the country air and the beautiful surroundings.

Please use the gravel driveway to the right of the main driveway and park on the gravel driveway just past the brick barbecue, which will be on your left. Go around the deck to the basement steps. It is well-lit if you arrive at night or return from an activity when it's dark.

Historic Harper’s Ferry where abolitionist John Brown led a group of 21 men in a raid on the arsenal, is just under an hour from Sykesville. The town was a crossroads for troops on both sides of the conflict and is full of history for Civil War buffs.

It is also a fantastic place for tubing on the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.

Another site for history buffs, is the iconic town of Gettysburg, famous for the Battle of Gettysburg, a turning point in the Civil War, and the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address" is approximately an hour from Sykesville.

Frederick, Maryland is a charming city full of history with a wonderful old town section with beautiful row houses, restaurants, bars and shops. It is located about 20 minutes from Sykesville.

Over forty miles of the Appalachian Trail travel across Maryland, with most of the AT following the ridge line of South Mountain.

The grass path to the rear steps of the unit is uneven and makes it difficult to roll luggage.

This was the best place I have ever stayed. Camilla is super friendly, helpful, and kind. The room is nicer than some hotels I've stayed at and very peaceful. I would highly suggest staying here to anyone wanting to visit Maryland!

Clean and quite

Camilla ' s BnB is in a lovely setting in the country. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. Camilla is very friendly and gave us information about places to eat and visit. We were in the area for a graduation so we only had a little time for sightseeing but we enjoyed the old town of Sykesville and the Norwood Ice cream shop.. The only problem was lighting in the bathroom for my husband to shave. We'd definitely would stay there again if we were in the area .

Camilla was an amazing host! My little one was sick so she made up the couch for her. She was so cozy it was difficult getting her out of bed the next morning! The entire vibe brought back cozy memories of staying at my Grandma's house! Thank you Camilla!

What a little hidden gem! Spacious, clean and private stay. Camilla was one of the best hosts we've had as she was personable, available and hospitable-- even leaving us breakfast, drinks, snacks and everything we ever could have needed. We will MOST definitely be back!

Hello! My name is Camilla. I am originally from Washington DC but have lived all over the world—Spain, England, France, Germany, Okinawa, San Francisco, Seattle—to name a few.

I have retired from my job as a Proposal Developer with a nationwide medical staffing company. I earned my BFA at Goddard College at the age of 62--a life-long goal, finally achieved.

I have two children—a son who lives in Houston with his wife and baby daughter, and a daughter who has just become a physician and will be moving to Louisville, Kentucky, to begin her internship with her husband, an IT professional.

I am an avid reader and belong to two book clubs. I am slowly beginning to enjoy gardening. I go to an exercise class for old ladies like me, and a yoga class. Absolutely love music of all kinds, especially blues, rock and Latino.

Twenty-eight years ago we moved to Howard County to raise our family, and we never left. The countryside is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. As you can see from my photos, the view from my front door is truly rural Maryland at its best.

Sykesville was just named The Coolest Small Town in America. It is also one of the safest. The businesses are independently owned. There are four unique clothing stores, a great book store, and an excellent hair salon. There are five small restaurants, including a creperie, a sports bar, a higher-end eatery which is a converted train station, a wine bar, and a deli. We have a farmer’s market every Sunday morning, just off Main Street. It is a wonderful place to live.

I would love to have you stay with me and experience Sykesville, as I do every day.
