The Den is a unique space within the Lake District - a Scandinavian style BBQ cabin. A large BBQ pit in the centre to sit around provides a cosy relaxing evening space, and a place to cook! WiFi, Fridge, Microwave, Kettle & Nespresso. Bedding provided, and a heated blanket! 8 minutes by car to Windermere, 5 minutes to Kendal. Easy access to a bus stop and cycle lane. Dales Way very close by. A camping-type toilet and sink (hot & cold water) next to the cabin. Dogs welcome £5/night extra.
Set in 2/3rds of an acre of beautiful gardens with private countryside views. Off street private and secure parking is provided. Toilet is located next to The Den in a separate shed. The sink has running hot & cold drinking water. Please note there are not shower facilities, but the sink with running water is suitable for taking a daily wash.
We are about half way between Kendal and Windermere. The main cycle lane into the Lake District is directly across the road, as is the Dales Way walking path. The Den is in a semi-rural setting with views to the surrounding countryside. For clarity's sake, during busy rush hours there is some traffic noise from the road, but evenings and nights are typically quiet. Please note that we are not the Windermere Camping Site, despite the AirBnB map showing it close by!

  • Coole Sparkley Höhle für einen romantischen Kurzurlaub :) Wunderschöne Gegend und Gastgeber war wirklich hilfreich. Es war Anfang März, also etwas kühl, aber der Grill erwärmte die Höhle und die Toilette hatte eine Heizung, die als Trockenraum für uns diente. Tolle Pause! Vielen Dank!

  • Fabelhafte kleine Hütte. Wir haben den Aufenthalt als Geschenk gekauft, sie haben es wirklich genossen. Wir gingen zu Besuch und Matthew war fantastisch, sagte uns, wohin wir gehen sollten, wie wir das Pferd füttern sollten, das unser 2-jähriger liebte. Hut ist großartig, großer Grill, alles Nötige.

  • Ich kann gar nicht genug betonen, wie sehr wir diesen Ort geliebt haben !! Die Hütte war makellos, mit allem, was wir für Tag und Nacht brauchten. Wir waren besorgt, dass es ein bisschen kalt sein könnte, da wir in der Nacht vor einem Sturm ankamen, aber es gab viele Decken, eine kleine Heizung und beheizte Decken. Wir wurden irgendwann zu heiß !! Werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder hier übernachten? Danke !!

    Character cottage in the heart of Bowness. Walking distance from all amenities , yet set back in a private location behind trees. With parking and lovely garden this is the perfect place to explore the beautiful surroundings.
    FOXGLOVE COTTAGE IN WINDERMERE LAKE DISTRICT Foxglove Cottage lies in Bowness, one of the Lake Districts most popular villages, with its many shops, inns, cafes and restaurants leading down to the beautiful lake Windermere. Foxglove cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty and to walk to local restaurants for a spot of dinner and maybe glass of wine or two. The end property of three traditional lakeland cottages, Foxglove Cottage is a short walk from Bowness village and bay and yet remains private, hidden behind trees and shrubs. A shared drive leads up to the cottages and Foxglove is on the far end with lovely private garden to the rear. The side entrance leads into the well equipped kitchen/dining room. A single step leads up to the oak beamed sitting room. The room has comfy sofa and arm chairs, and , of course , the obligatory log burning stove. A most comfortable and cosy place to relax after a long walk in the beautiful surrounding area. A narrow staircase leads to the upstairs floor, on the landing is the first bathroom with bath and overhead shower. A few more steps lead onto the main landing off which there are two bedrooms, one the master double, with en-suite whirlpool bath and overhead shower, the second a pretty twin bedroom. At the rear of the cottage there is a lovely private garden, surrounded by shrubs and trees. there is a dining area where you can perhaps have a barbecue and enjoy a glass of rose in the spring/summer. This is a perfect place to stay for either couples or a small family, where the amazing area of the Lake district can be easily explored and just a short walking distance you can pop out to wine and dine in the evening before returning to a cosy relaxing cottage. The Location The linked towns of Bowness and Windermere lie east of Lake Windermere, where Bowness is at the waters edge, with the town of Windermere set about a half mile away above the lake. Each is a busy community of shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions, serving both the local community and our visitors to the Lake District. Perhaps the biggest attraction is the bay at Bowness, a sweeping crescent of waterfront and adjoining parkland, where you can enjoy a walk by the shore or find a quite place to picnic. At the bay you will find the piers and the famous Windermere steamers, which offer boat trips up and down the ten - mile reach of the lake. Here you can also hire rowing boats and motor powered boats, which can be taken by the hour to explore the lake and it islands for yourself. Other popular attractions are the World of Beatrix Potter, the Windermere Steam Boat Museum and a little south of Bowness the Blackwell Arts and Crafts house, one of the most important surviving houses from the turn of the 20th century. The house is a superb example of the Arts and Crafts movement architecture, where it occupies a stunning position overlooking Windermere and is open to the public as a gallery for craft and applied arts. North of Windermere is Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Center. Set on the lakeshores the main house is surrounded by beautiful gardens where you will find a huge adventure playground, café, shop and exhibitions along with a host of information about the National Park. For visual entertainment you have the Royalty Cinema in Windermere, and the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness, staging a lively annual season of music, theatre, comedy and film. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, where for me the best is by far Jericho’s in Windermere. Owned and run by Jo and Chris Blaydes, the welcome is always warm, the setting perfect and the cuisine delicious. For a good country pub atmosphere there is the Queens Head at Troutbeck, about 2 miles from the main village the inn offers fine beers, good food and roaring fires in winter months. For the big walks and big landscapes you will have to travel a bit further into the park, however there is a good local walk up onto Orrest Head, which begins from Windermere, just opposite the railway station. Anecdotally it was the first ever walk for Alfred Wainwright where the view from the summit was said to have changed his life and set him on a lifetime of fell walking and the production of those much loved walking guides. Also quite local are the fells to the south of Bowness. Although not mountain high, they offer a magical rolling countryside rising above the lake with magnificent views. Travel a little further afield and you much to explore. South of the villages, at the foot of Windermere, is Newby Bridge and Lakeside where the steamers terminate. Here you will also find Fell Foot Park for boat hire, fishing and the National Trust Gardens. East lies kendal, the capital Town of South Lakeland. A host of good shopping, restaurants and a busy cultrural scene with the likes of the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and The Brewery Arts Center. At the northern head of the lake lies Ambleside, a popular town with cinema, pubs, restaurants and huge selection of outdoor and climbing gear shops. Once you past the head of the lake you are within easy rach of the big fells such as the Langdales, the forest of Grizedale and the other great lake in the south, Coniston Water.

  • Dies ist ein schönes Häuschen, direkt am Rande aller Geschäfte, Bars und Cafés in Bowness, aber schön abgelegen, so dass es keinen Lärm gibt. Es ist etwas eng, bis zum Cottage zu fahren, aber das Innere ist wunderschön eingerichtet, dekoriert und sauber. Eine gute Küche und ein Holzofen machen dies zu einem großartigen Ort für einen Aufenthalt in. Wir waren dort für die Laternenparade und das Feuerwerk in Ambleside, die eine kurze Busfahrt entfernt waren, und das Cottage war ein großartiger Ausgangspunkt dafür und probierte all die schönen Cafés, Bars und Geschäfte in Bowness aus. Wir können die Arts Bar, das Magic Roundabout Cafe zum Frühstück und das Beatrix Potter Center für Kinder empfehlen, das praktisch nebenan liegt. Alles in allem ein tolles Ferienhaus, um Zeit zu verbringen.

  • Dieses Häuschen ist ein kleines Juwel! Wunderschön eingerichtet und perfekt positioniert. Dort muss man erst wieder fahren, wenn man leider nach Hause muss. Das Cottage selbst hat eine tolle Größe von der Lounge bis zu den Schlafzimmern und das Bad war riesig für ein Cottage! Ein gemütliches, sauberes, gut gelegenes Ferienhaus. Perfekt :)

    Bowness on Windermere , Cumbria, Vereinigtes Königreich

    Fermain Cottage is a charming lakeland home that has been lovingly renovated over the years to a high standard. It is a three storey property on a peaceful road, just a very short walk from Ambleside town centre. With ample parking for two vehicles, it is a perfect base from which to explore everything the Lake District has to offer. A tranquil, cosy and memorable place to stay, for up to five people. We are a strictly dog-free cottage.
    The front door opens straight into a newly renovated and well equipped kitchen area. The oven, gas hob and microwave gives you plenty of cooking options. There is a fridge / freezer, kettle, Nespresso Coffee Machine and dishwasher. There are plenty of pots, pans, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils - everything you need for a self-catered holiday. Stone floors lead through to the living room where there is a dining table / chairs and two sofas. There is a wall mounted television and a wood burning stove which is lovely to sit by in the evenings (please bring your own logs). There are some books and games kept in the living room which you are welcome to use. The house is fully centrally heated throughout and the controls are on the first floor landing. The bathroom is a stunning focal point of the home. After a long walk in the hills you can take a soak in the claw-foot tub, or have an invigorating shower with our complimentary toiletries. There is also a double bedroom on the first floor and laundry facilities. The top floor houses a large second double bedroom and a smaller single bedroom. There are excellent views of the surrounding fells from the top floor. On prior request we can accommodate a sixth person on a pull-out bed in the single bedroom. It is a full size single mattress bed (see photos) and would probably be best suited for children. There is an additional charge of twenty pounds if you would like the sixth bed to be made up. Stair-gates and a travel cot can be assembled prior to your arrival, upon request. Being a traditional lakeland cottage, the staircases are quite narrow and steep, which may present a challenge to the elderly or those with mobility problems. Outside: The back door leads out from the living room to a small, peaceful garden with an area of grass and benches. There is a gravel driveway large enough for two cars. There is a large lockable shed in the garden. If you want to store bikes etc in there, I am happy to arrange for the key to be left for you. We are a strictly dog-free cottage.
    Ambleside is a bustling and lively village where you will find plenty of things to do. Many happy hours can be spent wandering around the town and its interesting shops (with plenty of stops for coffees and cakes!). Ambleside is one of the best places to shop for outdoor gear if you are into fell walking / outdoor activities. In the evenings there are a number of restaurants within walking distance from the cottage if you don't feel like cooking. Pop into one of the many cosy pubs for a drink. The Lake District is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK - there is so much to explore! Turn right out of the cottage door on foot and there are a number of beautiful walks up the hill and onto the local fells, which are suitable for most people and children. Or take a short drive for some more challenging walks in the area - Helvellyn on a clear day offers unparalleled beauty from the top.

Das Ferienhaus liegt abseits der Hauptstraße, also sehr ruhig. Geschäfte / Pubs zu Fuß erreichbar. Ich würde die Fahrt um den Windermere See sowie einen einfachen Spaziergang auf den Orrest Head mit spektakulärer Aussicht empfehlen

Die Dusche ist, wie in zahlreichen anderen Bewertungen erwähnt, ein Kunstwerk der Wasserkunst! Hat einen schönen Herd und darf die Nespresso-Maschine nicht vergessen!   • Was für ein fantastisches Hotel in der Nähe des Zentrums von Ambleside. Weit genug entfernt, um ruhig zu sein, nah genug, um einen Abend in den örtlichen Bars und Restaurants zu verbringen, ohne dafür parken zu müssen. Das Anwesen war gepflegt und außergewöhnlich sauber. Die Aussicht (besonders von der 3. Etage) auf die Berge ist hervorragend. Der Star dieses Anwesens ist für mich das Badezimmer ... Es ist unglaublich! Geräumig mit einer fantastischen Dusche. 3 geräumige Schlafzimmer mit bequemen Betten. Liebte den Aufenthalt ... werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen !!!

    Artie's Lodge is a beautifully luxurious 2 story lodge with the bedroom upstairs and you get the whole place to yourselves. Downstairs there is a large L shaped sofa (which folds out to a double bed great for kids) making up a large comfortable open plan lounge over looking lake Windermere as well as the dining area where your breakfast will be served. We have ensured the full luxury package with a large bathroom including a walk-in shower and a double ended bath tub for a deep soak complete with local luxury soaps. Upstairs you will find a 5ft wide king sized bed in sumptuous surroundings in which to wind down. High quality towels and bedding are provided. Think of this as one of the best hotel rooms you have stayed in. Catering: There are complimentary loose leaf teas and freshly ground coffee on offer with a kettle and a small fridge. Our BREAKFAST is included in the rate and will be sourced from the finest local ingredients including eggs from our two resident Maran Hens, Ethel and Gertrude pictured! Our pork is Oxford Sandy & Black from a friend's farm down the road. Breakfast choices are; Full English (bacon, sausage, fried egg, mushrooms, baked beans & toast) Continental (pastries, toast, butter and jams) Lebanese (2 fried eggs with sumac and Arabic bread, grilled halloumi, beef tomatoes & olives). We also offer a Dinner service! (PLEASE NOTE this option in not available between 23rd December and 2nd January 2020. Please do book somewhere early as the restaurants around book up quick during the Christmas and new year period) Elizabeth learned her Lebanese cooking from her mother in law and you can be assured that our Lebanese food is second to none in the home made cooking world. A 3 course dinner of lovely Lebanese tastiness which can easily be made vegetarian is available at £30 a head.     Peaceful views of lake Windermere and everything the Lake District has to offer. Need I say more! We have a stocked Rainbow Trout fly fishing lake within less than a 10 minute walk (permits purchased online). Other activities within a 20 minute drive include: Go Ape, Zip Wires, Off road Segwaying, Climbing, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Sailing and of course walking and mountain biking in the fells. We have fantastic local produce around here including highly luxurious soaps from the Bath House in Sedbergh (which you will be able to use in the bathroom), the Lakes Distillery (great craft Gin, Whiskey and Vodka), Craft Beer from Fell Brewery, Damson Gin, Toffee Vodka, Kendal Mint Cake, Sticky Toffee Pudding......need I go on?!
  • Wir sind gerade von einem fantastischen Wochenende in den Seen zurückgekehrt. Artie's Lodge war wunderschön mit Blick über den See bis 22 Uhr. Die Landschaft war nicht von dieser Welt! Cat und ihre Familie haben uns sehr willkommen geheißen und uns hilfreiche Tipps zu den besten Orten gegeben, die man besuchen kann. Das Frühstück war köstlich und ein toller Start in den Tag. Das Bett war super gemütlich und hat eigentlich nicht so gut geschlafen Für eine lange Zeit. Die Lodge war nur wenige Autominuten von der örtlichen Stadt entfernt, die viel zu tun hat und mitten im Winderemere-See auf die Palme geht. Kann es sehr empfehlen.

  • Artie's Lodge ist eine fantastische Unterkunft. Es ist ca. 40 Minuten zu Fuß von Bowness on Windermere oder ca. £ 10-12 in einem Taxi. Es gibt einen wunderschönen Blick über den Lake Windermere, ein sehr bequemes Bett, ein riesiges Ecksofa und ein schönes Frühstück. Mein Freund und ich würden ohne zu zögern die Lodge weiterempfehlen und würden gerne wieder hier übernachten, wenn wir in die Gegend zurückkehren. Joe und Cat waren beide proaktiv und sehr reaktionsschnell in ihrer Kommunikation und insgesamt hatten wir einen wundervollen Aufenthalt.

  • Schönes kleines Hotel für ein paar Nächte. Tolle Lage und die Gastgeber kennen die Gegend gut. Wir würden Hooked für ein gutes Fischdinner empfehlen, aber man muss es buchen. Wir genossen auch Kajakfahren auf dem See. Der einzige Punkt, den wir ansprechen würden, ist, dass keine Küche vorhanden ist, was die Dauer unseres Aufenthalts begrenzt. Auf jeden Fall ein Ort, den ich empfehlen würde!

  • Die Artie's Lodge Windermere ist ein schöner Ort, um die Gegend zu erkunden. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Frühstück am Morgen war reichlich und ideal, um uns auf den Tag vorzubereiten. Die Lodge ist sehr schön, sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und eine gemütliche Atmosphäre. Schöner Blick auf den See vom Wohnraum und. Die Unterkunft selbst liegt abseits einer Hauptstraße und verfügt über sichere Einfahrtstore. Sicher für Hunde, die nicht an der Leine sind. Sie brauchen wirklich ein Auto, um die Umgebung zu erkunden, da es keinen richtigen Fußweg vom Haus gibt, der irgendwohin führt. Dies hat uns nicht gestört, da der Hauptort von Bowness weniger als 8 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt war und die Lodge auch ein guter Ort war, um die Gegend südlich des Sees zu erkunden. Würde es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

You won't feel let down. Windermere lake is 5 mins in a car or 20 mins walking. There are plenty of walks and great cycling routes near by. FREE parking is available on College road.

We are in a rural setting with no immediate neighbours * The Bothy at Cowmire Hall is a delightful, first-floor converted farm building, consisting of a hall, large living-room/kitchen open to the roof, a shower-room and double bedroom. There is also a gallery or sleeping-platform above the kitchen area which can be accessed via a ladder from the living room/used as a bedroom at your own risk and there is also a sofa bed in the living room.
    The main living area is open plan and vaulted to the ceiling with exposed beams and trusses. A Juliette balcony opens out on to the inner farm yard giving views of Whitbarrow Scar, an impressive limestone escarpment and well worth a walk to the top, where views of the neighbouring valleys and beyond on a clear day are a must. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of crockery, utensils, serving and cooking dishes, pans, baking trays, making life easy if you want to enjoy home cooking during your stay. It is open plan to the main living space, meaning guests can interact whether relaxing on the sofa or rustling up a delicious meal. There is a large electric range style cooker as well as a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The Bothy is centrally heated and also has a wood burner - perfect for a night in. Kindling and logs are provided, baskets are stocked on arrival and guests are invited to top up from the woodshed during their stay. The living area had a large TV screen with DVD player, internet is free and is Fibre to home Broadband, giving excellent connection should you need it. Fuel, bed-linen and towels are included. The Bothy sleeps up to six people, with the option of a double bed, sofa bed or two single floor beds on the mezzanine (open to the main living area). Please note that the mezzanine is accessed by a cut out wooden wall ladder. The bathroom has an electric shower, basin, toilet and large linen cupboard. There is a utility room on the ground floor (separate entrance) with use of a sink, washing-machine, tumble-drier, freezer space and space for bicycles etc. There is an outside sitting area with table and barbecue. The Bothy looks out to the south over a farm-yard to Cowmire Hall - a C16 pele tower extended in the late C17, where the owners live - its garden and the Winster Valley. To the north the view is of the farm orchard. There is not any livestock in this yard, though tractors come and go, and our hens have the run of the space during the day. Guests may park cars here. The yard is separated from the main road by a gate, and the house by a wall and gate, giving a safe space for dogs to be off the lead. We would however ask that they are exercised either along the lanes or adjoining fields.
    There are 2 local pubs within walking distance of The Bothy, one being the famous Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank and also the Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge. Walking takes about 15/20 minutes to these fantastic pubs, both of which allow dogs.

Nachdem wir beschlossen hatten, die hektische Weihnacht zu überspringen und zwischen den Familien hin und her zu rauschen, buchten wir ab Heiligabend hier für 3 Nächte zu bleiben und unserem 3-jährigen ein zauberhaftes gemütliches Weihnachten zu schenken. Der Raum und das Layout ist wunderschön. Wir waren begeistert von der Art und Weise, in der die beiden "flossen", ich konnte leicht sehen, dass ich hier bequem wohne! Die Küche war in Bezug auf Annehmlichkeiten besser ausgestattet als meine eigene und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Wir liebten es, vor dem Holzofen zu kuscheln, und meine Tochter liebte es, aufzuwachen, um die Tiere auf dem Hof zu sehen. Rebecca und ihre Familie waren sehr herzlich und wir bedauern nur, Sie nicht alle besser kennenzulernen! Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und haben das Gefühl, dass beides unser Zuhause sein wird. Oh und der Weihnachtsbaum, oh mein Weihnachtsbaum, es war einfach spektakulär! Traditionally built in Lakeland stone and a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside, Thomas Fold Flat is perfect for couples looking for a comfortable base in the heart of the Lake District. This recently renovated, light and airy basement flat is situated half way between Ambleside and the Lake on the original Old Lake Road. Thomas Fold Flat has an open plan living room and fully equipped kitchen area. For those cosy nights in the living room has a Large 32” Television with a DVD player and Sky TV with Sky Sports package, along with a Small Dining Table, Comfy Sofa and Arm Chair. The double bedroom has a King Size Ded, Spacious Built-in Wardrobe and a TV with Freeview and DVD. The modern bathroom has a Bath with Power Shower over. There is also an inner hall with further Storage Cupboards. This one bedroomed flat has the benefit of a Large Comfortable Sofa Bed in the living room which can be used for flexible sleeping arrangements (additional supplement for bedding may apply). Thomas Fold Flat we provide a free parking permit for the car park just metres away, although there is usually Free Parking on the road outside the house as well. There are 9 steps down from the road level leading to a small courtyard patio area with Luxury Garden Furniture and the entrance to the flat. THomas Folsd Flat also has a separate Utility Room/Bike Storage with Tumble Dryer.

  • Absolut erstaunlicher kleiner Fund !! Loveday Cottage könnte nicht besser sein, der Ort selbst ist so gemütlich und gemütlich, aber so hochwertig und schick zugleich. Man kann sagen, dass viel Nachdenken und Mühe darauf verwendet wurde, es zu dem zu machen, was es ist. Die hausgemachten Brownies waren auch eine schöne persönliche Note - sehr geschätzt. Die Lage ist perfekt und in der Nähe des Lake Windermere, was sehr schön ist, aber es ist immer noch weit genug entfernt, um sich vor der Welt versteckt zu fühlen.   • Loveday ist der perfekte, ruhige Ausgangspunkt, um die Seen zu erkunden. Das Haus wurde geschmackvoll renoviert und verfügt über alles, was Sie brauchen könnten.     Overview: Peter Rabbit's Burrow is a newly refurbished two-bedroom apartment, situated in the very centre of Windermere, that has been furnished to a high standard. The apartment is ideal for families or couples looking for a central base from which to explore the Lake District. Windermere train station is a short stroll and Bowness-on-Windermere, with its many bars, restaurants and of course, the Lake and Lake Cruises is a gentle downhill walk. The apartment is situated on the first floor and accessed via a shared hallway. Following the Peter Rabbit theme, it consists of two bedrooms, one is a kingsize bedroom with views up the High Street. The second is a double bedroom situated to the rear of the building. The large living room, with a flat-screen TV, also benefits from views of the High Street and makes for a great space to relax and unwind after a day out exploring. The well-appointed kitchen makes cooking a dream, on those evenings that you aren't out and about in the local restaurants. The bathroom with bathtub and shower, basin & loo is modern and spacious. Things to Note: Pets are not permitted. Street parking for one car is available using the permit provided. The apartment is on the first floor above a local Coop Store, accessed via stairs.
    Peter Rabit's Burrow is conveniently situated right in the centre of Windermere, a short stroll from the many restaurants and bars. Windermere Train Station, which links to Oxenholme Station and onward to London Euston and Scotland Stations is a 10-minute walk. Hope on one of the local buses to visit Ambleside, Grasmere or further on to Keswick. This is an ideal central base to explore the Lake District.

    A charming apartment in a traditional Lakeland house. Ideal for walking, cycling, climbing, rowing, sailing and kayaking. Wide choice of shops, cafes, pubs & restaurants in nearby Windermere & Bowness. Main tourist attractions within easy reach.
    Willow is a located in tranquil woodland with views towards the mountains and fells. The apartment is part of an extension to Pinethwaite Lodge. The original part of Pinethwaite Lodge dates from the late 19th Century. Willow has a bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The kitchen, dining and living area are all in one room with sink, electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, dining table and chairs, settee and TV. The bathroom has underfloor electric heating, a shower, toilet and wash hand basin. A cot for a baby can be provided on request but please bring bedding for the cot (my children are in their mid 20s now!) Willow and our grounds are not 'child friendly', however. I do not provide child proof plug socket covers or cupboard locks. In addition there are a number of external hazards including a pond, stream and stone steps close to the apartment. Your child/children will need to be supervised at all times. I charge a one off payment of £5.00 for the use of the cot. I can provide a camp bed which fits in the kitchen/dining/living room area if the sofa is moved! It is a bit of a squeeze! If you wish to use the camp bed as well please bring a sleeping bag. I charge a one off hire fee of £5.00 for the use of the camp bed. There is a small courtyard by the entrance with table and chairs. Bicycles can be stored in an undercover storage area next to Willow in our shed.
    The Lake District is a year round destination and Pinethwaite Lodge is located near Windermere in the heart of the National Park. Outdoor opportunities are endless: walking, cycling climbing, rowing, sailing and kayaking - all within easy reach and Windermere Golf Club is just up the lane. The main tourist attractions of the southern Lake District are all on the doorstep – Windermere with cruise boats, Beatrix Potter attractions, a cinema in Bowness – and a little further away are the Aquarium of the Lakes, Car Museum, Sizergh Castle and Brockhole Visitor Centre. Bowness and Windermere are within a couple of miles, with a wide choice of shops, tea rooms, cafes and restaurants and modern and traditional pubs. The popular centre of Windermere is surrounded by very accessible vantage points that give glorious views of the surrounding area and lake. Orrest Head, a 784’ hill north of the town, provides one of the finest panoramas – as does School Knott – immediately behind Pinethwaite. Another easy climb is Biskey Howe, a 300’ hill east of Bowness, which has quaint narrow streets and a 15th century church. Windermere, the lake, has fourteen islands, including privately owned Belle Isle with its 18th century round house. Further afield, the list of stately homes, steam railways, lakes and tarns, homes of authors and poets, and fine eating places, is almost endless, all set in the deep valleys and foothills of the Lakeland fells, where some of Britain’s best scrambling and mountain walking may be found. Even in today’s busy world, it is possible still to leave cars and people behind and find solitude in many parts of the Lake District. In addition, Pinethwaite is a haven for wildlife: foxes, badgers, roe deer, and a wide range of birds, from buzzards, to long-tailed tits, warblers, fly catchers, heron, tawny owls and many more.

  • Ich war so aufgeregt, zu Cecilia zu gehen und dort zu bleiben. Sie sorgte dafür, dass alles zugänglich war und gab sich die Mühe, meinem Sohn ein Kinderbett zur Verfügung zu stellen. Cecilia antwortete auch sehr schnell auf Nachrichten. Leider konnte ich wegen eines familienmedizinischen Problems nicht teilnehmen. Cecilia war gut darin und verstand die Umstände. Ich würde in naher Zukunft wieder bei Cecilia buchen.

Perfekt zum sitzen und frühstücken mit Blick auf ein Feld voller Schafe, darunter ein Hühnerstall und Fasane, die herumlaufen. Die Lage ist ideal, um die Seen zu sehen, die sich am Ufer des Sees Windermere befinden. Wirklich ein schöner Ort zum übernachten und kann es wärmstens empfehlen!

    Oakfold House, is a Lakeland stone Victorian guest house located between Bowness and Windermere. Our property has been refurbished and maintained making the most of the original features, we are family run.
    This front facing single room is located on the first floor of Oakfold House. It has a single bed and an en-suite shower, as well as internet access and tea and coffee making facilities and a dressing table/work desk.
    Bowness is a great location, with our famous Lake - Lake Windermere. There are boats that travel across Lake Windermere to other towns such as Ambleside or to the South - Lakeside where there is a steam train, motor museum and aquarium. There are plenty of walks to do of varying difficulty. Quieter scenic walks are accessible to start and finish in Bowness, or you can travel further afield to climb Scafell Pike or Helvellyn. If eating and drinking is what you are looking for, then the pubs and restaurants are superb. There are a lot of shops too, as well as public transport to get other cities and towns.

    The Property High Gregg Hall Farm Cottage is situated on a working farm in the beautiful Lyth Valley which falls within the Lake District National Park. Just 5 miles from the market town of Kendal, the village of Underbarrow is very rural with stunning scenery. Two pubs, The Black Labrador and the Punch Bowl at Crosthwaite are both just a short stroll away along the country lane. Both offer excellent food and real ales The two-bedroom property has recently undergone a full refurbishment with great care taken to include modern comforts while retaining some of the original features including the exposed wooden beams. The spacious living room with comfy reclining sofa's, placed in front of the large log-burning stove and he wall-mounted Freeview TV. A fabulous area to unwind and relax. Off of the living room is the boot room, with drying racks, ideal for walking gear. Also on the ground floor is the well-equipped modern kitchen and dining area and the shower room with loo, basin and walk-in shower. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, one double and the second is a 3/4 double with a single bunk above. Accommodation Summary Living Room: Two single and one three-seater sofa's, log-burning stove, wall-mounted Freeview TV with Bluetooth soundbar. Kitchen: Modern with fridge and freezer, gas hob, two electric ovens, toaster, microwave, kettle and a washing machine. Dining table to the side. Bedroom 1: Double bed with wardrobe and bedside tables. Bedroom 2: 3/4 double with single bunk, fitted storage cupboards and a chest of drawers. Bathroom: Walk-in shower, loo and basin. Heated towel rail on the wall. History High Gregg Hall Farm has been farmed by the Simpson family for four generations and is currently in the care of Mark Simpson with the help of dad Alan who farmed here until he retired. Once a dairy farm, High Gregg Hall is now a mixed farm with beef and sheep, the farm also grows its own hay and haylage for the stock and horses. Things To Note: Access to the farm and livestock is not permitted without the farmer's permission. The stairs are carpeted with a handrail. Private parking is available on-site. Bike storage is available.

    Due to covid 19 we are currently closed. But when it is safe to open you will find a quiet country hut situated in a private area alongside our family home in Windermere. The hut is crafted with every attention to detail considered. Including a kitchen area and shower room, underfloor heating, a TV, WiFi and a double bed all furnished in a very stylish decor. Through the pretty picture window you can see the outside space complete with Chiminea and tranquil country views. A perfect hideaway!
    Set on a private road, away from the noise, and yet both Windermere and Bowness are only a short 10 minutes walk away.There is a private parking area with plenty of space that is shared with the main house, connected to a small path leading you to the hut. Mountain bikers are welcome to bring and leave bikes in our secure garage.
    The hut is based on a quiet, hidden road, in walking distance to the vibrant Windermere town where there is plenty of places to eat out from Italian cuisine to Thai. One of our favourite places to eat is The Smith a small family run pizza restaurant with a log fire and twinkly fairy lights. If you like your beer and ales the crafty Ba is a friendly place with homely decor and a great ambience, not to mention the most extensive selection of drinks available. We've had many a cheeseboard here! For amazing brunch and breakfast it's a must to visit Homeground coffee and kitchen! And for sunny days I recommend Cafe Italia across the road with outside seating where you can drink cappuccinos and watch the people go by.

    ***January to March, Discounts available, please ask.*** It is an easy walk from the train and bus station to our ground floor flat.You will have sole occupancy. It's tucked away in a secluded sunny spot, yet moments away from the vibrant cafe culture that is Windermere. Warm and clean we aim to make you feel welcome.
    In a small purpose built block the flat has been refurbished recently and decorated to a high standard. It has one bedroom, guests have the entire flat for their use. There is a shared lawn area, enclosed by hedge and walls. There is an allocated space in the car-park. In the distance, the Coniston fells are an inspiring view, but its just as convenient to walk from the door. Lots of choices, including the lake shore , Orrest Head view point, much loved by Alfred Wainwright, the beech trees of Sheriffs Wood or the unspoilt School Knott tarn.
    The mainline train station at Kendal town is called Oxenholme, Lake district. From there a local train service runs into Windermere. The popular cafe culture in Windermere contributes to a vibrant village. Booths is our local supermarket where you will find regional products. A Co-Op and Sainsburys are on the main streets. We are proud of the beautiful scenery, and if you don't want to drive, you will find lots of other means to explore. Walks from the door step take you uphill to small tarns, view points or down through woodland, past pretty streams to the lakes shore. Increasing numbers of accessible paths open up access to people of a fitness and abilities "Wild" and lake swimming is increasingly popular, you may even be joined by an otter! There are many historic houses and sites to visit locally reflecting the poets, craftspeople and artists who have lived here. Even if it rains, you will still find lots to do. The local cinema has a Wurlitzer organ and regular recitals. Visiting orchestras host concerts over summer. There are lots of activities throughout the year. We try to keep an up to date guide available. A new and very successful initiative last year was the winter German market. Our Christmas lights are strung between the streets, Father Christmas arrives by train in December, and local groups arrange regular events through the year. Windermere is well served by Churches. There is a Quaker meeting , and farther afield a Buddhist center, at both of which, people of all, or no faith are welcome.

  • Eine wundervolle Wohnung, die perfekt im Zentrum von Windermere gelegen ist, obwohl Sie es nicht wissen würden, wenn man bedenkt, wie ruhig es ist. Sie werden nichts wollen, von den Grundlagen von Tee, Kaffee und Milch bis hin zu schön berührten Wanderstöcken und sogar einem kleinen Rucksack, falls Sie vergessen haben, einen für Ihre Wanderungen im Lake District mitzunehmen. Ich kann an der Unterkunft nichts auszusetzen haben und war sehr nett, von Fiona begrüßt zu werden, die alles durchlief, was wir wissen mussten, als wir ankamen. Die Kommunikation war superschnell und wir bekamen innerhalb von Minuten die Antwort, die wir brauchten, um die Gastgeber zu kontaktieren. In einer Stadt mit sehr wenigen Parkplätzen einen eigenen Parkplatz zu haben, war ebenfalls ein großer Vorteil. Das einzige, was wir nicht nutzten, war die schöne kleine Terrasse im Hintergrund, aber vielleicht das nächste Mal :)

Die Lage ist wirklich unschlagbar, da sie von zentraler Bedeutung für die Seen ist und Sie einfachen Zugang zu Restaurants und Annehmlichkeiten in Ambleside haben. Wir mussten die Gastgeber an einem Punkt kontaktieren und sie waren sofort erreichbar (und sehr nett und hilfsbereit). Die Wohnung selbst war sehr komfortabel und wir schätzten die kleinen Extras wie Frühstückszubehör und Karten / Vorschläge für Spaziergänge.

    The cottage offers two double bedrooms (one en-suite), a cosy living room with log burner and a private outdoor patio. Situated just a 4-minute walk from Windermere train station, this is a perfect base to explore everything the beautiful Lake District has to offer.
    The living room has a comfy 3 seater sofa and 2 rocking chairs all placed around the log burner which is lovely to sit around in the evening. There is also a TV with freeview and a DVD player as well as a number of books, games and DVDs which you are welcome to use. The living room leads through to a very well equipped kitchen and dining room area with traditional slate flooring. The kitchen has a large range oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle, and all of the pots/pans/glass wear/utensils you could possibly need for a self-catered holiday. The dining room has a large wooden table and 4 chairs. A utility room with washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and dishwasher leads off of the living room. On the first floor of the house, there is a large bathroom with powerful shower and bath and a beautiful double bedroom with an adjoining dressing room space. On the second floor of the house, there is a newly renovated second double bedroom with wall-mounted TV and en-suite. This room also has a window seat with views over Windermere village high street and beyond. OUTSIDE The french doors from the kitchen/dining space leads down to a private courtyard complete with a large table and chairs. The house is also accessible from a back gate in the courtyard which leads on to Beech Street, 50 yards from all the high street has to offer. Designated parking space outside front door. Additional parking spaces available - there are 3 guest parking spaces at the top of the drive. These 3 spaces are shared by the 5 cottages in the close, on a first come first served basis. THINGS TO NOTE Wood burner will get very hot, there is no fire guard provided. Would not recommend use with children in attendance. No stair-gates are provided. Patio area can be slippery when wet.

    •Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Blenheim Lodge is located at the end of a cul de sac on a quiet small steepish hillside lane and nestles into a fell. As our short road ends is also a no-through road, we do not get vehicles coming up towards our neck of the woods unless they have a reason to be here. •The front and side of our semi-detached guest house overloook Old Bowness to Lake Windermere and the mountains beyond - hence the marvellous views that we and our guests can enjoy from our guest and public rooms. •The back of Blenheim Lodge B&B boarders the tranquil woodlands and fields of National Trust acres. My favourite room, The Dalesway, has a romantic charm and overlooks those same fields and countryside, and makes me feel like I have escaped to some special fairy place far away! •As there is no road at the back of our guest house, Blenheim Lodge does not have any neighbours to the back of the house. In fact, an ancient mossy stone wall covered with hedge growth and a low wire fence form the boundary between our house and National Trust acres. •Access from our B&B to National Park walks and viewpoints, picturesque dells and peaks, is through a little wooden farm gate at the end of the small road that leads up to it from our guest house. One of these walks is romantically named the Poet's Walk. The highest viewpoint is Brantfell, which is also the name of the fell or hill that our home is located upon. •The Dales Way Walk is a long distance footpath, which route traverses part of Brant Fell. Blenheim Lodge is the first guest house off The Dales Way Walk in Bowness-on-Windermere, thereby making our B&B a convenient stop for tired walkers looking for friendly and comfortable accommodation after days of walking from Ilkley, The Dales Way Walk's starting point in Yorkshire. •Indeed, one of our guest rooms, The Dalesway, is named after The Dales Way Walk because, whilst the countryside is not in full flower, one can see the Footpath from this bedroom. •I wish I could sketch here the loveliness of our B&B's location. Being up on a hill, guests may enjoy the peace and quiet of a relaxing getaway. •The countryside surrounding our Bed and Breakfast brings with it unpolluted Lakeland air, which one of our long time guests has remarked upon as being one of the reasons why she keeps returning to our guest house: her doctor had told her that the clearness of the air helps to alleviate the symptoms of her chronic asthma. Of course, our guest hastened to add, she has also continued to come here after 12 years because she enjoys our hospitality. Now, it is like welcoming an old friend to our home: as she has often said, it is her home from home. •Thus, for guests who enjoy walks and peaceful retreats, with the added bonus of stunning Lake and mountain views from their rooms, Blenheim Lodge is an ideal place to stay. •However, Blenheim Lodge also occupies a very convenient location with respect to accessing local amenities and attractions. It is a 2-minute walk downhill to the centre of Bowness town where guests will find numerous cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops, a couple of newsagents, beauty salons, a bank, a Post Office, an antiques shop, a bakery, a delicatessen, etc. •Lake Windermere and the leisure facilities and attractions that it offers is about 5-7 minutes walk from our guest house. There, guests can ride the ferries, enjoy rowing or puttering on the Lake in a little row boat, canoe, kayak or motor boat, and we can even arrange dinner or lunch cruises aboard a yacht - great for a little treat! •Also by the Lake is a recreation area with crazy golf, an 18-hole golf course (please don't get your hopes up that this is a big course - there is a proper golf club and course a mile from our B&B that welcomes visitors), tennis, and badminton. Guests can rent leisure equipment at the recreation area and golf club as required. •In the summer, Bowness welcomes a fair or two and sometimes even the Red Arrows. There are often other events held at The Glebe, Bowness Bay, which is right by the Lake and only 7 minutes walk from the front door of our guest house. •Going down into Bowness town might take all of 2 minutes, but walking back up from the centre of town will take 5 minutes since it is all uphill. Having said that, there are two ways to make tracks to our guest house from the centre of Bowness: one is a steep route and the other is a slightly more windy but much gentler route which cuts out 2/3rds of the hill! Either way, it will take 5 minutes to walk uphill from the town centre and back to us.

    As a family we love spending time here. The central location means you don’t spend time in holiday seasons queuing to get through Ambleside but can be instantly out and about. We walk and climb all day with a picnic in a perfect spot, then come back to a swim and sauna and a bbq on the patios. Later into the evening we play games or watch a film. The nights are silent under star strewn skies. There are wonderful local eateries and pubs, The Eltermere Inn remains our favourite. There’s a brilliant indoor pool with a wave machine in Keswick and a fabulous market on a Thursday. The cinema in Ambleside is joined with a restaurant and offers excellent value deals on a film and a meal. When we’re here for a week family members have to pick their favourite activities and trips, walks, climbs as there is so much to do. In summary you have a ground floor flat. 5 outdoor steps to climb on path from car park but otherwise level. Comfortable living space with books, maps and games, dvds provided. Travel cot for infants but bring your baby’s bedding. Large washing machine (3x £1 coins) large tumble dryer (£1 per 30 minutes) in the nearby laundry room if needed. Please note, concerning pricing and good value....... the nearest hotel has a 2 night minimum stay and ranges from £50 (most basic mid week) to £100 per night PER PERSON. At Merlins there are no additional fees for each guest or for cleaning fees (as some other Airbnbs charge) You get a good deal
    Car needed. 3 miles out of Ambleside but that’s why red squirrels play outside the patio door.

A traditionally built cottage made with Lakeland stone with exposed beams Thomas Fold Cottage is a great destination for your Lake District Holiday. Situated on Old Lake Road, half way between Ambleside Village and Windermere Lake Thomas Fold is just a short stroll from all the amenities of the village and the Ferry Terminal at Waterhead. The beech-wood kitchen is very well equipped with a tiled floor, Breakfast Bar, and Large 5 Hob Range oven it is perfectly suited for cooking large Lakeland Breakfasts. There is a good sized sitting/dining room with a wall-mounted 40" TV with Sky and Sky Sports, there is also a Mini-Hifi and Free Wi-Fi broadband access throughout the house. Patio doors lead onto a large outside balcony with garden furniture ideal for eating outside in the better weather days. Thomas Fold Cottage has 2 double bedrooms one twin room and a large family bathroom on the first floor. There is a further double bedroom with a Kingsize bed situated on the ground floor right next to the downstairs bathroom. Uniquely this offers accommodation to those of us who struggle with stairs.

    The space A very quiet place close to the shore of Lake Windermere (200m away). Downstairs is an open plan room comprising lounge area with settee and sitting chairs. the dining area has a dining table and two pew type bench seats (came from a local church). The kitchen has all the normal appliances and a food prep island with two stools to sit at. There is wifi and Freesat tv. TV is wall mounted and downstairs only. Also downstairs is a small loo with washbasin and the washing machine in a small adjacent cupboard Guest access Directions are emailed a few days prior to arrival along with access details. Please note I may not be on site to welcome you or see you off at departure. Other things to note The garden is shared and you're welcome to enjoy it but please note that the surfaces are uneven and can be slippery. There are a couple of pubs/ inns that provide food but you may need to book it and space could be limited. Another great option is to get a meal delivered by a local company who actually deliver nationwide but are located in the Lake District. We have negotiated a 10% discount for our guests using the discount code THE BARN. If you search for Montgomerys dinner delivery service you should find it. Our water and heating is predominantly wood fuelled thus relatively carbon neutral. The hot water is however 'hot' so please note this. Please note that the Barn is for 4 people not any more, should you wish to exceed this for a reason please tell us before booking. Car parking is for one car only, should you need more it should be left on the raid by the junction. Again please let us know beforehand. More than 1 car clogs up the drive too much.
    Emma’s place is located in Cumbria, England, United Kingdom. We are located on the West side of the beautiful Lake Windermere approx 4 miles form the nearest shops. Beatrix Potters house and Hill Top are approx 1 mile away as is the National Trust Claife viewing station and cafe by the ferry overlooking the Lake. It is a very quiet side of the lake and the closest towns are Ambleside at the Northern part of the lake and Windermere/Bowness on the East side. For a bigger town Kendal is 35-40 minute drive round the bottom of the lake (Asda, Morrison, Aldi, Halfords B&Q etc etc)

Die Lage ist brillant - nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß vom Zentrum von Windermere und dem Bahnhof / Busbahnhof entfernt. Die Handtücher hatten eine hohe Fadenzahl und strahlten Qualität aus. Jane hat sehr schnell auf unsere Fragen geantwortet. Es ist ein schönes Juwel in Windermere und wir würden diese Wohnung anderen ohne Reservierung empfehlen.

  • Janes Wohnung ist sehr sauber und komfortabel. Es ist in der Nähe von Windermere Bahnhof und Busbahnhof und der Supermarkt. Es hat eine voll ausgestattete Küche und Waschmaschine, ein separates Bad und Wohnzimmer / Essbereich ..... einfach schön, warm und ruhig .
