Tommy Thompson ParkKnown locally at "The Spit" or "Leslie Spit" this is a really wonderful bike ride, where you feel like you're outside of the city. There are walking trails all along the spit. Nature preserve.
High Park is 40 hectares (think massive, huge, a couple of miles across). There are rivers, streams, a lake, an outdoor ampitheatre, restaurant in the middle of the park, ice cream stands, and wonderful waterfalls to walk beside, as well as a small zoo, a tiny train, and a truly spectacular wooden climbing and play area for the kids, that is unparalleled in the city. It's massive, with many turrets, walkways, and various kind of play areas, and is quite remarkably built.
