Food Scene

Soulard is the French community of St. Louis. It's a great place to go with dozens of bars and restaurants to choose from. If you like Blues and Cajun food, this area has plenty to choose from. If you want a sports bar, the two best are Duke's on the north end and Big Daddy's to the south. 1860's and Hammerstone's have great food and atmosphere and often have live music. Molly's has plenty of outdoor space for pleasant days but may have more of a wait.

Sightseeing

It's the Gateway to the west and impressive to see in person. The Arch grounds are currently under renovation, but you can still go down there. The view from the top is stunning if you have the guts to take the tiny elevator to the top.

Parks & Nature

The St. Louis zoo is located in Forrest Park, site of the 1904 World's Fair. Remnants of the fair still exist. The zoo is rated one of the top four in the country and top five in the world. Forrest Park is also home of the Jewel Box atrium and the St. Louis Science center. The History Museum is on the west end of the park. You could spend a week just exploring the park and it's many offerings. The best part is that it's all free. https://www.stlzoo.org/ If you have a wagon or stroller for little ones, I'd suggest taking it. There are miles of hills in the zoo. You can bring in your own snacks and drinks. Concessions are terribly expensive since they support the zoo. They do have a $15 drink cup that you can refill for $1. Parking is $15 but worth it for security of your car and not being worn out before you even enter the park. Check out the membership packages. If you plan to park, ride the railroad, go to the children's zoo, or see a show, it will pay for itself in one visit. Join online to use your membership immediately. https://www.stlzoo.org/membership/benefits/membershiplevels/ There are also options for day passes. https://www.stlzoo.org/visit/hourspricesdirections/
