Another fave secret spot of mine... This no-frills diner is the place to go for a quick, cheap and decent meal almost anytime. Great little breakfast spot that won't break the bank. Within walking distance.

It is open every Sunday from 9am-2pm May to October, and Sundays from 10am-2pm from January to May in the Princess Street United Church Hall at 484 Albert Street.

Tom's Place is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's more like a hunting cabin than a bar – complete with stuffed wildlife – but it's got couches next to a wood-burning fireplace, quiet and comfy booths, super friendly staff, great food and an intimate atmosphere. This is my fave secret spot. Please don't share it with too many people!

Stroll the Lake Ontario Waterfront or run the trails. This park is great anytime of year, especially in the summer, when the splash pad and playground are teeming with active kids. Perfect place for a lakeside picnic, and plenty of parking.
