If you're heading to the beach, you have to take a break from the sun and go right across the street to this hidden gem. It's a fairly new place, but it's the epitome of a Beach Bum haven. A rustic, completely open-air bar and seating area shaded by trees. Come get a couple drinks and a small bite to eat before heading back to the beach for round 2 of tanning. Even if you don't go in, write down the address. This is the exact location of the "relaxed end" of the beaches in Fort Lauderdale as compared to the busy bar/shops section of the beach to the south.

Wilton Drive is the epicenter of downtown Wilton Manors, which is famous for it's inclusive attitude and LGBT aligned shops and businesses. There is no shortage of bars, clubs, and eateries along this drive, and the evening and weekend crowds prove just how popular this area is! Wilton Creamery (ice cream), and New York Grilled Cheese are two required stops for any true foodie!

A very unique place in Fort Lauderdale to say the least. It's an old converted "convenience store" located in a residential area that has some of the best craft beer and pizza in town. The walls are lined with gas-station style coolers, and patrons can simply help themselves to whatever beers they like. At the end of the night, you bring all of your empties to the register to pay. It's frequently rated one of the best bars in For Lauderdale.

For our out of state guests, Publix is the grocery store of choice for most Floridians and the Southeastern US. A trip to the beach isn't complete without stopping here for a "Pub-Sub" sandwich at the deli.

A new boutique grocery store in Fort Lauderdale that offers more natural and/or organic foods. Surprisingly, it may be the cheapest grocery store in town, despite having some of the best quality foods. A unique trait...you can even purchase a $2 draft beer or $3 glass of wine and walk around with it as you shop! For those that are familiar, think of Lucky's as a cheaper version of Whole Foods/Fresh Market, or Trader Joe's with a bigger selection.

Parks & Nature

Fort Lauderdale Beach has it all. White sand, bright blue water, restaurants, bars, shops, and great people watching. This area of the beach, called Beach Place, has the most amenities, so it will also be the busiest and most entertaining. If you're looking for peace and quiet, just head 1 mile north and park along the street to find your paradise! From the AirBnb, just take Sunrise Blvd east until it dead ends...then make a right for the lively beach, or a left for the relaxing beach. It's that easy!

This park is right across the street from our house! It currently has an historical home on the property, which was one of the first homes in Fort Lauderdale. It was originally located on Las Olas Blvd, but was moved to this park when the growth of the city threatened to tear it down. And very recently, a brand new playground was installed and has become very popular in the neighborhood.

Entertainment & Activities

Right near this bar is the first stop for Fort Lauderdale's Water Taxi. This is a very underrated activity for visitors to the area. Not only is it a hop on/hop off shuttle service along the Lauderdale waterways, it also gives you a tour of the areas richest families and most luxurious houses and yachts. Fort Lauderdale is actually the Yacht Capital of the World, and spending the day riding this taxi will leave you convinced. There are about 22 different stops at various restaurants, bars, and points of interest. If you don't want to pay, there is also a much smaller, free version that stays within downtown Lauderdale and doesn't incorporate the history or sightseeing aspect.
