Local Towns

Launceston, also known as Lanson, is the gateway to Cornwall being 1mile over the border from Devon. This ancient market town built around the castle ruins, sits high on a hillside just off the A30. The town supports a limited selection of retail shops, pubs, cafes within the centre and a selection of supermarkets on the retail parks out of town.
Good shopping/pannier market and butchers hall/historic/events/cinema/riverside walks/park and more! About fifteen minutes drive through scenic countryside. Legend has it the first afternoon tea originated at the Bedford Hotel.

Plymouth. A lively, bustling port city in Devon, southwest England. known for its maritime/ naval, heritage and The Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World in 1620. Head for the historic Barbican district with narrow, cobbled streets, Sutton Harbour to the National Marine Aquarium, where sharks and rays glide in a deep tank. Worthwhile visiting 'the Hoe' , the promenade and the outdoor Lido. Also in the harbour there is a local fish market, and large and small ferries cross the RiverTamar (car and passenger services) plus Britainy Ferries sailing to France and Spain.

Family beach with safe shallow bathing and rock pools. Great scenery, private paid parking next to the beach. Easy, level walking round the headland to Polzeath. More challenging treck to the beaches and shops/cafes at Rock over the sand hills when the tide is in. Easier to walk along the beach at low tide.
