Great resource center of tons of information and maps on hiking trails. Gold Rush Tour is a drive-on-your-own tour into the mountains with some amazing history culminating at the Gold Mountain gold rush abandoned site - pick up the flyer at the nature center (4 wheel drives suggested - 3 hour tour, bring lunch).
