Lambert's is a charming restaurant right in the heart of town. Excellent new American food with a southwestern twist. One of the best margaritas in town! Be sure to check out the Treehouse Lounge for happy hour. Reservations are recommended for dinner in the main restaurant.

A favorite spot for New Mexican food! Almost everything is delicious here and the family who runs the restaurant are welcoming and kind. Hannah recommends the tres colores plate or the combination plate. Don't miss the chili rellenos!

If you're up in the ski valley and craving pizza, be sure to check out the Taos Ale House. The Detriot-style pizza is excellent.

If you're making the drive up to the ski valley, you might as well go to the top of the mountain and enjoy a Germain stein of beer with a view! The food is average but the beer selection is excellent!

Roughly a 30-minute drive from the house (a beautiful drive, at that), you'll find Vivac Winery. Vivac makes dry wines and has a lovely little tasting room and patio where you can enjoy them. Vivac offers a small selection of snacks, but you'll probably want to have lunch or dinner before heading to the winery as there aren't any restaurants out that way.

Sightseeing

This trail starts right at the end of our road (CR 110). There's a parking lot which makes it easy to bring your bike or your dog. Once the snow melts, be sure to hike the slide down into the Gorge. If you keep following the trail, you'll end up at the river, which is lovely in the spring, summer, and fall. In winter, you can hike the upper trails that run alongside the Gorge.

The view from the Rio Grande Gorge bridge is spectacular and worth the drive. On the weekends, you'll often find locals selling arts and crafts. There's a system of trails at the bridge if you want to hike along the gorge.

When the weather warms up, take your chairs down to the river and cool off. The Orilla Verde is our favorite spot to swim, kayak, and fish (permits are required). The Pilar Yacht Club is open in the spring and summer and is conveniently located right at the turn off for the recreation area. The Yacht Club has a small diner and all of the essentials for your day on the river!
