Food Scene
Love Thai food? This is a hidden gem! Not much to look at from the outside and if you've never had food from there you might even be scared away by the stenciled sign. BUT, this place has some of the BEST THAI FOOD we've ever had. You can eat there or call to order and pick up. Generous portions. Quick service.

Another place that a tourist wouldn't stop at but locals do! Very friendly local couple. Great baked goods. Try any of their donuts or just pick up some fresh dinner rolls.

There is NO NEED to drive all the way to the North Shore to get great shave ice! It's right here near our neighborhood. A favorite with my girls!

This is a local family-owned grocery store (2nd generation). Great bakery, poke, and beach/fishing essentials. Produce department is small but adequate. Every grocery item you might need. Also carries beer, wine, liquor and often has specials. Support locally owned businesses! Great owners who give back to the community and their children's school.

Very nice family beach with comfort station and showers. Almost no wave action so not for surfing. Popular with stand-up paddlers and kayaks.

Walk into the past and see what living on a plantation was like when people from many cultures came together. My favorite is the house with the giant printing press because my grandfather had a similar one at Puunene, Maui. There is a "general store" where children may try on traditional clothing from other countries. Very popular place for elementary field trips.

WAY more than a pharmacy...this is a one-stop mega asian-influence department store. Groceries, produce, office, toys, clothing, slippers, souvenirs, liquor/beer/wine, candy & snack foods, sundries. Prices are usually reasonable, sometimes this is the only place you can find certain things. Fun to look at products from other countries. Food court too.
