Towns worth visiting
Great surf town with lots of cute, artisan shops, great restaurants, fun bars, and tons of street vendors selling various souvenirs, jewelry & hand crafts with many vibrant people from all over the world. Fun place to visit for a day on the beach. Bring the boogie board so you can have some fun on the waves or if you're feeling adventurous, you can even take surfing lessons here or even charter a small fishing boat. This town is a must-see but head there early because parking is hard to find.

This town is also called San Pancho; a smaller surf town than Sayulita with a less tourist feel and great body surfing waves. However, the water here isn't ideal for small children because the waves are pretty strong and crash close to shore...you should be a strong swimmer and comfortable in waves to brave this beach. There is a sea turtle sanctuary here that releases baby sea turtles right on the beach in evening at dusk during the high season (Nov/Dec-April). Visit their FB page to get details on turtle releases: @sanpanchoturtles The shopping, restaurants, cute cobblestone streets, and friendly people here are worth the visit alone. The sunsets here are unbelievably beautiful - a must see! Grab a margarita from one of the beach restaurants and enjoy!

Bucerias is about a 20-30 min walk on the beach from our condo or a 5 min drive to the south. Great swim and body surfing beach with tons of beach front restaurants to choose from. Our favorite restaurants are located in town, however. If you're looking for some souvenirs or just want to experience good ol' bartering for a few tchotchkes, you must visit the Bucerias market which is in el Centro (near main center square). Make sure you have cash on hand (Pesos or dollars are accepted).

This cute, authentic fishing town, also knows as 'La Cruz' for short, is a short 5 minute drive to the north/west. There are many great restaurants to visit here, including the following favorites of ours: -Tacos on the Street ($) - very limited menu but totally worth it if you like delicious rib-eye steak tacos and delicious flan for dessert -Masala Bar & Grill ($$) - the same restaurant & owner as the Palapa/pool restaurant at our community. Very delicious, fresh and creative menu There is a marina here in La Cruz where you can find fresh-caught fish to buy from local fishermen if you prefer to cook it up yourself back at the condo. There is a fantastic farmers market down at the marina every Sunday during peak season (Dec-March) until about 2pm where hundreds of local merchants and food vendors setup their booths and sell the most delectable food & drinks and beautiful decor, clothing, arts & crafts. A must see!

Food scene

Delicious rib-eye steak street tacos - you can order them "con todo" (with everything; cilantro, onions, guacamole sauce, and mild salsa) or choose to omit some of those. You also get a tray of freshly roasted jalapenos, radishes, and hot salsa for some extra heat. They never disappoint! Best value too - Tacos are only about 35 pesos each!
