This is an old fashioned soda fountain where you can get ice cream, milkshakes and sundaes. Check before heading down to them though as their hours fluctuate depending on time of year.

The iconic Stanley Park is a must see for visitors to Vancouver. I love to walk the 11km seawall where you can watch ships and seaplanes coming and going and if you pay attention, you'll see a seal. If you have a car, the drive around the park is beautiful, with many points to stop and explore. There are three beaches in the park if you feel like just soaking up the sun and listening to the waves.

There are three beaches in the park if you feel like just soaking up the sun and listening to the waves.
It's not a challenging hike down to the lighthouse where you clamber over boulders to sit and soak up the views. You will only find locals here.

Vancouver has over 18 kms of beaches and each one has its own distinctive personality. If you want "clothing optional", then Wreck Beach is for you. If you're more into the singles scene, then Kitsilano beach is perfect. You can watching people crabbing from the pier at Jericho. But Spanish Banks is our favourite as the tides go way out which is fabulous for walking. When the tide comes back in over the warm sand, it heats up the water making for ideal swimming conditions.

If it's raining in the city, you know it's snowing on the mountain.

Grouse Mountain has it all. A gondola ride to the top of the mountain brings you directly in the alpine. They have numerous activities such as a lumberjack show, grizzly bear habitat, ranger talks and more. Approximately $50 per person plus paid parking.

Entertainment & Activities
This is similar to Soaring Over California if you've been to Disneyland. It's a great introduction to Canada and a really enjoyable experience. My only criticism is it's too short! Tickets $27 in person or $23 online.

Playland is walking distance to our home. In the month of October, they feature "Fright Nights", with 8 haunted houses. There is nothing scarier than experiencing an old wooden roller coaster in the dark! Plan ahead as many nights sell out.

This shopping mall is undergoing a huge transformation. Once completed, it will be amazing but currently there are stores open and kitty-corner across the street is a Whole Foods. There is a Skytrain station here as well.
