The Parkway was a major draw for us. It is part of a 400+ mile scenic highway that wraps south of Asheville. The 45 mph serpentine mountain road has countless scenic overlooks. Lots of hiking.

Another favorite. On the South Slope adjacent to Catawba Brewing. They roast their pigs overnight (pig's name goes on a blackboard). The pork is great -- so are the brussels roasted under the pig.
