Essentials

So close to the house. Full Mexican butcher and fresh on-site bakery (donuts/caske/muffins and great bread for sandwiches). Decent beer selection, best guacamole in town, and a taco/burrito counter that will help absorb all the alcohol from your long days in wine country. Burritos are huge and can be split between 2 people, and are only 6 bucks a piece. The tacos are a smaller and a bit more approachable for a single person to eat. Tapatia also provides all the essentials from a mid-sized market with a basic produce section, and all the dairy, eggs, juice and ice cream you may need.

Drinks & Nightlife

Airbnb made me choose bar, but this place is much more that that. It has great beer (over 30 on tap) and really good and well priced food, topped with a great staff. If you want to watch the game, this is the spot. Happy hour is M-F from 3 to 6pm. Their Reuben Croquettes are amazing, and their soup/salad and sandwich combo is also worth the money. They will soon have a liquor license, but for now the beer and wine with gastropub fare is a perfect fit. Again, it is a bit TV centric, so finding a quiet place away from a screen is not easy.

I listed this as "everything else" because it is a wine and beer bar, with meat/cheese/olive plates and a grilled cheese to die for (but not a full kitchen). Every Wednesday they host a winery or wine label to highlight their offerings. They also have a turntable with a great record collection. Here's why it's my favorite place to go for a drink : The staff is fantastic, they don't open until 5pm and are open late every night (closed mondays), there are NO TVs!, good music, very hip and gorgeous clientele, always have a beaujolais or two by the glass, they love the old world style of winemaking, have 6 great beers on tap as well as dozens of Belgian other W European beers in the bottle. It's also hidden down an alley and isn't usually spotted if you're not looking for it. Most customers are local industry folks, lots of people know each other there. Great place to go to avoid your standard tourist. Cons : The place can get very loud, they need to invest in some sound dampening materials because it's sometimes hard to be there due to the ruckus caused by all those young, hip and gorgeous people.

Napa County Fairgrounds is where BottleRock is. Cross over 3rd St bridge and past Soscol, and it's about 2 blocks east from the bridge.

Food Scene

Listed as a restaurant because they really do have great food, but you should sit at the bar and order from there. The beer is superb, service is amazing, and their wine list is solid as well. Their Texas chili, buffalo wings and daily specials are what I usually get there.

Perfect sushi. Ask for Amir for your server and tell them Jay and Jessica sent you (you won't get a discount but he's the best). Place is super expensive, so we recommend not going there hungry, avoid ordering cocktails, and their California rolls are amazing. As a sushi lover, this is a hard thing to say, but they are really good. The shoshito peppers, the big pot sticker, rock shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, waygu beef nigiri... it's all really good and well worth the trip. If you want to try it without a full meal, sit at the bar or ask if there is room in the lounge area.
