Great new Izakaya in Elizabeth Street (Izakaya - fancy for Japanese bar with small snacks). The sake selection is small at the moment, but I am sure it will grow and the tapas-style small dishes helped with our table, who just wanted to try everything on the menu. Yum.

We go here for a pre-dinner drink before moving on to our favourite waterfront restaurants. Fantastic view, but make sure you are there before the sun goes down.

Go to MONA....Truly a magnificent and world class experience..... Museum of Old and New Art.... You can drive there or go by bus, but we think taking the ferry is one of the best ways to start your MONA experience.

Shopping

The iconic Salamanca Market is on only on Saturdays. Amongst the quintessential touristy stuffed tassie devil, you can also find some 'up and coming' local jewelers, artisan producers and local whisky distillery's doing some tastings - yum yum.

Essentials

This is one of our best known gourmet grocery stores in Tasmania....It supplies most of Hobart's homes with locally grown, freshly supplied fruit and veg, but is is more than a grocery store. You can find wonderful, imported cheeses and small goods and shop for a local gift to take home to a special friend.
