This is a very good restaurant with the best garlic soup I've had. In the summer it is crowded and it's best to make reservations.

Restaurant nestled in the hollow of the cliff, 2 kms from les Eyzies, near the troglodyte site of Abri de Laugerie Basse. Run by the same family for 3 generations the food is fresh and good.

Wonderful restaurant. Outside terrace and lovely inside room and barn with tables. Food is very good and cooked from local produce and all the meat is from locally raised, grass-fed animals.

Sightseeing

A must see for people who are interested in prehistory. It is a place that takes my breath away when I realize what our ancestors were doing thousands and thousands of years ago.

The Château de Beynac is a castle situated in the commune of Beynac-et-Cazenac. The castle is one of the best-preserved and best known in the region built in the 12th century by the barons of Beynac.

Domme is 250 metres (820 ft) above sea level on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne river. Listed among the "most beautiful villages in France" it is worth seeing for the view and the ice cream.

Laugerie Basse is an abri, a rock shelter rather than a cave, on the right bank of the Vézère River, across the bridge from Les Eyzies. The 1st Venus figure found in France was found here in 1864.

About a mile northwest of Les Eyzies on the left bank of the Vezere. Signs point the way on D47. You can get very close to the stalagmites/tites.

Cadouin is famous for its abbey. Founded in 1115 by Robert d'Arbrissel and taken over by Cistercian monks in 1119 it became one of the most important in the area. The town is lovely to wander round.

This is one of my favorite villages. A lovely place to have lunch then canoe along the river. The 11th century church is a beautiful example of the use of sacred geometry.

This is a lovely place to take children, have a picnic, look at live animals with prehistoric roots and experience a 3D rendition of some prehistoric animals. Children enjoy this a great deal.
