If you like Tennessee style hot chicken this is the place! If you don’t like chicken this is not the place for you, because that is pretty much all they have.
It's a bit farther away, but is worth the drive.

Hikes
Short drive to the trailhead (30 minutes), and the hike is fairly easy (1.2 miles) and has lots of shade. You can even get into the water to swim, although the swimming area is quite small.

This is a longer drive (around an hour) but a longer hike. We recommend the “3-mile waterfall hike”, it is a moderate hike that takes to you three different waterfalls.
You can stop for lunch or dinner in Hendersonville.

A further drive, but it is on the Blue Ridge Parkway so who cares!
Hike 1.4 miles to the top and you get panoramic 360-degree view. There are plenty of other hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway if you would like more hiking.

Hike 1.4 miles to the top and you get panoramic 360-degree view. There are plenty of other hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway if you would like more hiking.
This is the highest elevation east of the Mississippi River. You can drive almost to the top and take a quick walk to the overlook or if you are feeling up to the challenge you can park at the restaurant and take the yellow trail to the top.
WARNING – this trail, while only 2 miles is very strenuous and you should give yourself plenty of time to get to the top and back down. Check the weather before you go, the area can run 10-15 degrees cooler than Asheville.
