Neighbourhoods

There is plenty to do in and around Staithes, the below are some of our favourites but please do share any of your own experiences! For a bracing walk and spectacular views head up out of the village onto the Cleveland Way. Boulby Cliff is the highest cliff on the East Coast at a dizzying 203m! Or there are any number of sea side villages and towns to explore...follow the link for some inspiration: https://www.top10trails.com/cleveland-way North Yorkshire’s coastline is also known as ‘the Dinosaur Coast’, whether or not you know your Ammonites from your Belemnites you don’t have to go very far to find them! https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/yorkshire-coast/features/yorkshires-jurassic-park Aside from crabbing (I heard a record haul was 185!!) you will also see anglers on the harbour walls (my husband has caught mackerel for our dinner on more than one occasion!) but for something slightly more adventurous we would highly recommend Three Sisters Boat Charter for fishing, wildlife trips and sight seeing! https://www.threesister-boatcharter.co.uk/ Staithes has its own beach, just inside the harbour and during the summer many children swim here - although be warned its bracing! You will also often see surfers enjoying the break off Staithes, however this is for the more advanced surfers amongst us. If you would like to have a go, head to Saltburn (north of Staithes) where Saltburn Surf School is fully accredited by Surfing England and can provide, professional coaching and and surf equipment hire. www.saltburn-surf.co.uk
