Arts & Culture

The Public Theater is one of our greatest New York City cultural institutions, keeping the theater thriving and diverse with work by amazing writers and great actors. It also has a music venue called Joe's Pub and a restaurant called the Library... Both excellent! A night at the Public is a quintessential New York pleasure. www.publictheater.org

If you love art, this is the place for you. The greatest museum in the world for my money. In moments, you can jump from Ancient Egypt to contemporary Japan to Europe in the 1800s to tribal Africa. I was born and raised in the city and I'm still working on discovering all the Met's treasures! Tips : If the roof garden is open, go up there! If not, take the B or C train to 81st or 86th Street to get to the museum and cross Central Park for an extra treat ;)

Parks & Nature

Such a special park, tucked away up here in our northern Manhattan neighborhood. Never overly touristy, always holding surprises like blue jays and cardinals or glimpses of eye popping river and sailboat views. Be sure to visit the Heather Garden at the upper south end of the park! Also, don't forget : The beautiful Cloisters, the European medieval wing of the Met, is nestled in here as well. Admission is always by donation, and even if you don't go in, you'll suddenly be transported to a tiny village in France when you come across the ancient ivy covered building.

About a 10 minute train ride from the apartment on the 1 line, this Italian gem is a wonderful place for dinner with friends, or sidle up at the bar and see who you meet :) Tip : A stroll down Claremont Avenue just to the left of the restaurant holds many architectural marvels for you, including Riverside Church and lovely little Sakura Park.

This is THE SPOT for a burger and a beer in the neighborhood. If you're a sports fan, the game's always on. You'll have a tough time picking from the list of burgers on the menu... They're all top notch. A five minute walk from the apartment along Broadway.
