If you've never been to Bruges, you definitely have to visit. It is truly beautiful. Park your car at the railway station and walk to the center or take a (free?) bus. Bruges is very touristic, so check Google Maps or Tripadvisor before chosing a restaurant to avoid tourist traps.

In recent years Ghent has become a thriving city. Moslty inhabited by students, it's beautiful architecture attracts a lot of tourism as well. Entering by car has become very difficult, so the best option is to take the train from Aalter to Ghent.

Walking
The chalet is located in a national park called Drongengoed. In the middle of that park, about 2km from the chalet, is located a 12th century farmhouse hosting a bar/brasserie. Ideal as a resting point during your walks.
