Sightseeing

This little gem of North West London is well worth a visit! Why? It is easily accessible from my house either by a twenty minute walk, or a five minute bus to Golders Green station and entering on the West Heath avenue entrance. It has wide sweeping manicured lawns, charming flower and herb garden and impressive magnolia trees which our local children love to climb. It even has a zoo! Great for children to see the eagle owls, deer, ostriches and even peacocks. if you want a longer ramble it links up to the famous Hampstead Heath, Parliament hill for the views and even Highgate woods. Well worth a visit, and brunch at the other end in Belsize Park, Hampstead village or back to Golders green. Terrain in Hampstead heath can be muddy and hilly so wear appropriate footwear.

Food Scene

if you like ethnic restaurants, vibrant shops and "real" London, this is where I go if I want to buy from a halal butcher, or eat Turkish food, or need my clothes tailored, or want to buy pound shop items! it's accessible from a bus from my place on the Canfield Gardens side. It isn't manicured or pretty, but is a good example of gritty, ethnic London. Residents only parking Monday to Friday.

Huge Asian supermarket with items from all over the world, with an onsite restaurant, cafe and bakery. Best accessed by car, especially if you are bringing groceries back. About a fifteen minute drive. I often go here for Hong Kong style food and to experience a corner of Asian culture in NW London.

West Hampstead is where all the yuppies and young professionals flock to before they move to Belsize Park to have families. full of coffee shops, small boutiques, it is easily accessible by bus from my place (189 on the Canfield Gardens side, or 113 on Hendon way followed by a short walk).
