Camelback Mountain ski area with 800 feet of vertical and 165 acres of skiing and boarding is about 30 minutes from the home. They also have snow tubing. In the summer you can enjoy Camel Beach water park.

Sightseeing
Victorian Jim Thorpe is great to walk around to enjoy the shops, restaurants and bars. The historic Mauch Chunk Opera House has music throughout the year.

Ok, it’s not close (1.25 hours away) and it’s not for everyone, but it’s one of the few ghost towns on the east coast. The underground mine fire has been burning for almost 60 years. If you do decide to go that way and want other things to see/do swing by the Pioneer Coal Mine in Ashland or Knoebels Grove Amusement Park in Elysburg. Admission to Knoebels is free, it uses tickets for ride admission. That way, if you just want to stroll through the park, take in the sights and have a bite to eat it isn’t too expensive.
