standing here since the early 13th century the castle is a must as well as it's historical values this is an amazing viewpoint . during weekdays you can walk up the spiral staircase in the main keep to sample the amazing scenery ..its hilltop location allows you to see exactly where the bar mouth lets the tides fill , and empty, the bay . Also allows the eye to follow the edge of the Irish see as far as Newcastle where the Mountains o Mourne sweep down to the sea . There is a car park at the base of the castle which makes it easier for the less mobile visitors ..really well kept by our local council it is not to be missed ..!!
