Wimberley's Blue Hole has been ranked among the best swimming holes in the state of Texas and even the nation. It is the centerpiece of Blue Hole Regional Park that encompasses 126 acres with natural grasses, delicate wildflowers, towering cypress trees, and massive limestone slabs. The swimming hole is wildly popular, and reservations are required. However, the park remains open for walkers who want to enjoy the park's serenity or enjoy a picnic. The entire park is open to visitors within the regular operating hours; however, swimming is only allowed during the designated swimming season. The park includes picnic areas, a community pavilion, playscape, basketball court, sand volleyball court, amphitheater, the Blue Hole Swimming Area, and 4-1/2 miles of hiking and biking trails.

If you are up for a little exercise, head on out to Mount Baldy and climb the 218 steps to the top.
Once at the top of the 218 rock steps, you rewarded with a 360-degree view of the Wimberley valley.

The trail encompasses 7.24 acres of land along Cypress Creek into a protected preserve and nature trail. The park is located immediately east of the Wimberley Square, bordered by Cypress Creek and Old Kyle Road. It features a walking path along Cypress Creek that connects to Blue Hole Regional Park.

The Jacob's Well Natural Area is minutes away from the Lazy Lavender. While it is most famous for its artesian spring, it also offers 81.5 acres of nature preserve with multiple trails to explore.
Jacob's Well is the second-largest fully submerged cave in Texas! The cavern system deepest part goes to a depth of 140 feet, and the main cavern length is 341 feet.
The Well is an artesian spring that releases thousands of gallons of water every day, coming from the Trinity Aquifer through the cave system. The water stays at 68°F, all year-round. Jacob's Well is also the headwaters of Cypress Creek (which also flows through the popular Wimberley swimming spot nearby called Blue Hole Regional Park) and deposits into the Blanco River.
Please note that reservations are required for Jacob's creek swimming. The use of trails does not require a reservation but might be closed off if too many people enter the area at once during COVID.

Covering 570 acres, Purgatory Creek is one of the most popular hiking places in Texas. Here you'll find a diverse mix of colorful meadows to stunning canyon bluffs and wetlands.
It is one of my favorite local places for a good hike. Make sure to wear good shoes and bring plenty of water.

The following Canyon Lake public parks, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, are located along the lakeshore:

The adjacent Back Porch Cafe serves light fare as well as beer and wine. We are less than five minutes away from Cypress Falls, so definitely a place to check out.
