Take a stroll along the canal, constructed originally to defeat Napoleons army but never needed due to his defeat at Waterloo. It’s now become a local attraction. It starts at the sea point centre but runs all the way to Rye In the centre of Hythe at the boat hut on Ladies Walk near Stade St bridge there’s the opportunity to hire rowing boats or take a trip along the canal in an electric boat. This is seasonal. You can also bring your own kayak to paddle along the water with. A permit is usually required please see Folkestone and Hythe district council website. There are plenty of spots to enjoy a bit of fresh water fishing but a permit is required see the Folkestone and Hythe district council for details. If you venture down to West Hythe you can take a walk along the rear of Port Lympne wildlife park and spot numerous wild animals. You can even stop for a drink at Unit 1 a local micro brewery.

A lovely wooden play area for children. Great spots for a picnic and a sheltered groin on the beach for children to play or go rock pooling when the tide is out. There’s are some pretty rainbow beach huts to see and the mermaid cafe offers some good snacks and ice cream A wonderful spot to view the Folkestone air show from. Or simply admire the view over the channel
