Welcome to the city with sun in mind! In Karlstad you are always close to water, not so strange as the city is located where Sweden's longest river, the Klarälven, meets Sweden's largest lake, Lake Vänern. Nature

Glaskogen is Värmland's largest nature reserve comprising 28,000 ha, mostly forest land of a wilderness nature. One fifth of its area consists of water and within the reserve the heights vary between 110 and 300 m above sea level. In the nature reserve there are 300 km of hiking trails to choose from. Everything from tours for a few hours to week-long tours with accommodation in windbreaks, overnight cabins or campsites. Nice canoe trails and a lot of lakes with potable water. Good fishing opportunities, fishing license required. To spend the night in the windbreaks and cabins, and to use the campsites, the Glass Forest Card is required. It is available for purchase at Arvika Tourist Office and in Lenungshammar. A detailed map of the area with hiking and canoe trails, windbreaks and more can be purchased at the tourist offices in Västra Värmland, at the Information Center in Lenungshammar, Din X petrol station in Glava and online at Glaskogen's website.

Treens camp is located just 500m from the cabin. Here you have the opportunity to rent canoes, play volley boll, try out frisbee golf or just relax by the water.

home-baked coffee bread is baked and served here, many of the pastries are made with tradition from Selma Lagerlöf's time at Mårbacka, with the special tailor-made flour, a toasted oatmeal. We offer fresh filling sandwiches and light lunch dishes, such as the unique nutritious tailor-made crepe with salad and dressing. Soup is also served during high season. All food offered is locally produced. Lunch dishes are served between 12-15.

If you want, you can spend all day hiking the forests directly from the cabin. A good pair of hiking shoes are recommended

"Inte störa inte förstöra"

This directly translates to: "Don't disturb, don't damage". This is the main rule of the "Freedom to Roam" (Allemansrätten) which means you have the right to enjoy nature but never disturb or damage your surroundings. Always leave it better than you left it.
