Rental car - taxis charge about $10 per person per trip
Get a rental car - small car will do.
Public transportation and taxis are very limited. It's best to get a rental car in order to visit all the wonderful beaches and places to visit. I've used Dollar and Thrifty several times with great success.

Pack light
The weather here is around 84 degrees. A shirt, hat, shorts and flip-flops are all you will need. Maybe a light sweatshirt/sweater for late evening. Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses.

Taxis vs Rental Car
Taxis charge per person per trip. If there are 4 people in your group it will cost about $40 to go one way. If you make several trips per day this is going to add up fast.
Rental cars can be expensive too. Unless you plan to go to some out of the way beach or location, you will not need 4WD vehicle. Get a small car like Toyota Yaris for parties of 2-3 orToyota Camery for parties of 4-5. The roads are very narrow and nobody stays in their lane. I've never rented 4WD vehicle in the last 10 years I've been here and have been fine. Even took the car to St John.
