The best coffee in town! They are also known for their waffles, bowls and smoothies. The outdoor area is nicely set up and there is good internet if you want to spend an afternoon working from there. It's a bit pricier than other options, but still less expensive than European or American prices. They accept credit cards and cash.

Good Dinner Options

A great European dinner spot with good service (which is rare in the Dominican), a beautiful ambience, good drinks and great food. I am a huge fan of the mushroom panzerotti. The dessert sampler is also fantastic and the meat dishes are high quality. It's a great spot for a romantic dinner or dinner with a group of friends or family. They take credit card, but you get a large discount if you pay cash.

Located in the quiet community of Perla Marina, Natura Cabana is both a hotel and a restaurant on the beach. It is a great spot for sunset as you can walk down the beach, have a drink, and enjoy dinner once the sun has set. (They also serve lunch if you want to come during the day). The food is good, the level of service depends on the waiter, but it is a great spot to explore. They have a little jungle gym and some fun hang out spots that are right by the water. It's a 20min walk on the beach if you want to go there for lunch after surfing in Encuentro.

A cute French spot in a little alley near the beach in downtown Cabarete. Their onion tart is great. They also have a broccoli steak (vegan) that is good and good wine options. Some of their dishes are a bit hit and miss, but its a fun ambience and classic Cabarete. The service is good and very friendly. On the weekend I suggest you reserve a spot if you want to sit outside, as they are small.

Tuva is an Italian restaurant a 5 min walk from the apartment. It has a beautiful atmosphere and is right on the beach. The food and service are not at the same level as some of the other dinner options, but the location and atmosphere are great.

Great spot if you are a group with different food preferences. They do live music and movie nights frequently. There is something here to find for everyone.

Awesome spot, right near the beach. At the moment I would say some of the best steak in town, same with the fish. I have to try some of their other dishes, but this new spot is quickly turning into a new favorite of mine. They have live music certain nights as well and I have also heard that their cocktails are great, though I have not had a chance to try.

Beach Spots

Drifter is a favorite for expats, located on the beach in downtown Cabarete. They often have life music on Saturday afternoons and a great atmosphere. The drinks and food are good, but very expensive (what I call the "beach tax"), but the atmosphere is fun and it's great for people watching. The service is okay, but not very good when it gets busy. They accept credit cards.

Right next door to the apartment is Kite Club, where you can get good bites to eat. It's a kite spot more than a restaurant, but it's a fun place to hang out, the food is actually good with vegetarian and vegan options. My favorite are the fish tacos and the fish curry. On busy days it can take a while for the food to get there. of you kite, this is a good spot to grab a bite while taking a break. If you don't, it's a good spot to watch the kiters while you enjoy a drink, food, and likely some conversation with whoever is hanging out around you.

I haven't eaten there myself, but friends say it's a good and inexpensive spot for brunch or lunch, or for drinks while watching the kiters. They have big bean bags that are great for hanging out.

Mesa Taina is a 5 min walk down kite beach from the apartment. It has sushi options as well as others. The quality of the food seems to vary depending on which chef is cooking. The Godzilla Roll is a popular option. It is on the pricier side. There is also a bar which is a popular hang out spot for folks staying at Kite Beach Hotel and on Kite Beach in general.

The restaurant at Seahorse ranch is stunning, and built right in cliffs. There is also a small beach next to it. This is a higher-end place, and it's all about the atmosphere. They also have great cocktails. Their prices are quotes in Dollars, so it is more expensive. The food quality doesn't really hold up, but it's a great spot for afternoon drinks. When you enter the Seahorse ranch area, let them know you are going to the restaurant and bring your ID, as they will ask for it.

Mojito Bar is a Cabarete classic. If you like the hustle and bustle of Cabarete beach, this is one of many options on the beach strip to sit and enjoy a drink.

Grocery Stores

Janet's is the local super market. It is not large, but will have most essentials. In the back left are a few specialty foods (tofu, gluten-free, etc.). They also have a delivery service, but that only works if you speak Spanish.
