Food scene

This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The food and service are consistently excellent and if you can get a table on the sand, it is a really unique and special experience. The meatball appetizer and grilled octopus appetizer are excellent. You should definitely try to get reservations a week or so in advance- they fill up fast.

This restaurant is located right at the end of our street, only about a 1 minute walk away. It is an upscale burger (mainly) place with great cocktails. One of the things we like best is that it does not accept reservations, so you have a fighting chance of getting a table during the peak of summer season. We recommend arriving about 6:55pm, just before Tea Dance lets out, so you can get a table and hopefully sit in a spot that you can watch as the crowds leave Tea.

You can't beat the views here! We don't go here for dinner very often, but we love to go for cocktails at around 4pm. We highly recommend the Tea-tini (but ask for it without a sugared rim).

This is our favorite off-season restaurant because the interior is so cozy, but they also have a magical back yard are with twinkling lights that is wonderful in the summer. The food is typical Italian American, but is always very good.

I'm Mexican American and grew up in California where Mexican food is everywhere, but it's not easy to find authentic Mexican food in New England, however we happen to have a place right in Ptown. It's just a casual counter with outdoor picnic tables, but the food is great. It's a great place for a casual lunch and to people watch.

The Canteen is a great place to while away a couple of hours in the summer. The food is very good, casual and eclectic. In the back is a big area on the beach with a bar and tables and always fun music.

This is probably Ptown's most iconic restaurant because of the after-hours scene. Every night during the summer when the clubs close, Spiritus will be MOBBED. The pizza, which is always good, tastes extra special at 1:30am.

Nightlife

LITTLE BAR and MACHO BAR: In the same building as the nightclub is a small bar that is open year round and has a fireplace. It's great if you are in town off-season. It's dark and a little seedy, which I happen to like. There is an upstairs called Macho Bar, which is just a small cruisey bar with a big screen playing porn videos. It's fun an worth checking out if you're in the mood for a dirty scene.

It's dark, cramped, musty, sweaty, old and fun as hell. This club is always crowded during the summer, but Friday nights are just insane. You don't really need to dress very nicely because it's hard to see what anyone is wearing on the bottom and you'll probably just take your shirt off anyway.

Beaches

Herring Cove is a really long beach with multiple sections separated by some long, fairly empty stretches. There is a parking lot at the Northwest end of the beach that gives easy access to the more family oriented area. From there if you walk a few minutes to the left, you'll find a small area with mostly girls. If you walk WAY down to the left you'll come to "Boy Beach". This section is usually really crowded during the summer and is just a lot of fun. Depending on the week (July 4th, Bear Week, etc.) a lot- sometimes even a majority- of the guys will be naked. There's no easy way to get to Boy Beach. Most people will ride their bikes and chain them to the fence along the road and then follow the path through the dunes and marsh. The walk takes about 20 minutes depending on the tides. Oh, you may need to wade through knee deep water part of the time if it is around high-tide. Also, the dunes can get pretty cruisy although there is zero privacy- definitely only good if you are comfortable with exhibitionism. There's no access to concessions, so bring your stuff with you.

This is a gorgeous beach just a little further from town than Herring Cove. It's a great beach for families or anyone that doesn't want a "scene" at the beach. It is also an excellent beach to watch sunset. It's too far to walk from town, but you can drive, ride your bike or take the shuttle bus from town.

Groceries & Liquor Stores

This is the only supermarket in town, but fortunately it's just a few minutes walk from our place. Just turn left from our front walk and walk until the street dead-ends at the Stop & Shop parking lot. They don't sell anything alcoholic, so you'll have to hit a liquor store or wine shop for that.

Of all the overpriced liquor stores in Ptown, this is probably the least overpriced and they have a good selection. It's right across the parking lot of Stop & Shop.
