Las Reyes is a cozy little place in Miraflores that pays tribute to Mrs. Isolina Vargas home made typical peruvian food cuisine. The best thing is the possibility of mixing a little of each stew in the same dish, so you'll try a lot of different dishes. Average cost: Entry: S/15 Bottom plate: S/30

You can catch some beach time to just lay out and relax, rent a surf/paddle board or even take lessons. The sun is usually out and bright from december to march.

Larcomar is a luxurious shopping center with a great view. If a nice spot to take some photos, grab a coffe or a meal on the restaurants (they can be more expensive though). There are also luxury peruvian crafts and alpaca clothing, but if you want some peruvian crafts and souvenirs on a budget. Don't buy anything here! You can go to the incan market.

A mandatory stop when visiting Lima. Here you can see historical buildings such as the government palace, the courthouse, Plaza San Martin and Plaza Bolognesi. It is advisable to go without valuables and during the day as it can be somewhat unsafe for tourists. Disclaimer: Be aware of the conjuncture because, the center its usually the place where political demonstrations take place.

Don't drink the tap water!

Peru's water quality is not as great as other countries (especially Europe and USA). My advice: Don't drink the tap water unless you want a one way ticket to a long stay in the bathroom. I even recommend buying bottle water to brush your teeth and avoid any trouble.

Tipping in Peru

It's common to tip on restaurants. It's usually part of the etiquette to leave 10% of the bill, but nobody will be mad if you leave a little less.

Bring a good sunscreen!

Peru is really close to the ecuador line, which means the sun and radiation are really strong. Please use a good sunscreen, especially if you are caucasian. If you are visiting Cusco, Ollantaytambo, or any other place located along the Andes Mountains you will also need sunscreen. Remember that you are much closer to the sun, which exposes your skin to much harsher rays. Stay safe!

Bring cash

Even though Lima has more access to pay with debit/credit cards, there are still some small places (bodegas and small restaurants) that only accept cash. Cash is even more important if you are travelling outside Lima.
Verkehrsmittel

Do not take taxis of the street

It's safer and even cheaper to take taxis from apps. Some apps available here are Uber, Cabify and Beat. Download them in your country, activate them and when you get here they will work fine. Tipping is not mandatory. (This advice does not apply necessarily outside Lima)

Stay safe!

To avoid having a bad time here are some safety tips: - Do not carry your passport, take another identity document or or a photocopy of the passport. Essentially something that does not complicate your departure from Peru if you get robbed. - Don't carry all your cash with you. Try to bring what you will need for the day and safe the rest with a lock where you are staying. - Try to keep your valuables in inside pockets or bags that are safe. - Try to not use your phone when you are walking or inside of a car, if you have to do it just be aware of your surroundings!
