Another great Exmoor pub. You can't book a table but they will always try and fit you in, so it's worth having a drink there and being patient! Great food and lovely people.

Quite basic in interiors but classic pub grub and only 7 or 8 minutes drive. In the village of Filleigh, very close to the Castle Hill Estate

The Torridge estuary is stunning and the villages of Appledore and Instow are well worth a visit. Both have lovely pubs and cafes, as well as being great places for walking - including the nearby Northam Burrows. Quite busy in the height of summer but still well worth it. A visit to 'John's' in Appledore or Instow (there's a shop in both places) is a must for yummy cheeses, jams and a light lunch.

About 25 minutes in the car but well worth a visit! Not only is it spectacular in itself, but it is home to a unique herd of goats and one of the most stunning cricket pitches in the world! The SW coast path goes right past, so take a stroll and then visit nearby Lynton for some shopping and refreshment.

One for the grandchildren......

If you want to visit one of the querkiest pubs in the UK, then this is your moment! Run by Steve, who is the world's greatest self-publicist, the rule of thumb is "if the door's open, then so are we". Don't expect food, there is no electricity in this remote pub on Exmoor, but Steve will always have a tale to tell and there are bound to be some interesting locals who love a chat! Worth a visit!!
