Favorite cafes include homebrew for a takeaway coffee, crave for healthy/ vegan options including açaí bowls, or sit outside Alpino restaurant with an authentic Italian pizza (bookings can be required).

Bike path adventures!
Why not hire some e-bikes and ride out to Lake Karapiro on the bike path! In summertime there’s a real fruit ice cream store (berry box - check opening hours) or you could ride out to podium cafe. The dedicated cycleway extends the length of the lake. Beautiful on a sunny day!

It’s a few km’s of shared cycleway then merges to a dedicated scenic path along the river in farmland. At the velodrome you’ll find a cafe, kids playground and can enter the velodrome to get a glimpse of the indoor velodrome. Maybe even see some of our nz track cyclists!

Scenic Walkways
(15min drive Northern entrance/ 30mins drive southern entrance).
The largest pest free fenced area in nz at Maungatautari. I’d recommend searching where to go before departure. Get a feel for the natural nz bush and bird life, meditate in nature! The northern enclosure has a short loop walk, and a longer more technical summit track which takes around 3hrs return. There are longer options if you’re up for it!
The southern enclosure has more wildlife and the main office where you can book tours and explore the smaller enclosure. Browse their website, all entries go to supporting nz wildlife.

Head to the end of Wordsworth street (turn left on exiting the property) Go right to the end, through the cemetery grounds to the far right corner and you’ll find a stairway down to a stream and some nature to fill your cup. There’s plenty of walks in Cambridge - do an internet search if you’d like to do more!
