Local recommendation
Whitland is a small town on the border of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. From here you have easy access to Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
There is a train station in walking distance along with a few pubs, take away, small shops and a great butchers/delicatessen which sells some lovely produce.
The Abbey bi-way trail is a nice circular walking route nearby - Keep going up North Road, staying on the pavements. 50m after the bridge over the A40, the Abbey By-way trail is on the right.

Narberth is a gorgeous little market town in the east of Pembrokeshire.
