Food Scene

This place has awesome coffee, delicious (And affordable!) smoothies and really good sandwiches and salads. Breakfast is all day, and always a handful of great souvenirs for sale as well in their mini market. Plus lots of options for the gluten free crowd. Super cute atmosphere right on Route 66 just a minute from the house.

Amazing mexican food - especially if you do breakfast. Garlic to last you the rest of the trip! Be prepared to wait a bit. If it's too long of a line, Grand Canyon Cafe around the corner is also good.

Tucked away in Oak Creek Canyon with a stunning garden dining area and a cozy historic house when it's cold... this place's setting is outshined only MAYBE by it's incredible dirty Chai.

Ask any local and they'll tell you that this is Flagstaff's favorite coffee shop. They roast their own beans and have great vegetarian breakfast fare.

If you're looking for a romantic date spot, or a slightly fancier place to celebrate while in town, this is a wonderful restaurant in an old house. We love their southwest crab cakes!

Sightseeing

This spot is quintessentially "Flagstaff". The meadow is the "bowl" of the old dormant volcano that makes up the San Francisco peaks. Bring a lunch and a sweater and enjoy the hikes and views at the top of the winding dirt road that rises above the painted desert and ponderosa forests. By the way - EPIC spot to checkout in October when the Aspens turn yellow!

A great hike with ups, downs and arounds that sums up Sedona's rugged beauty in one walk. Generally busy but worth the final view! Don't forget water. Dirt road is maintained but bumpy.

If you're headed to visit Grand Canyon, we highly recommend hiking or biking while you're there. It's such an enormous sensory overload with so many people that you really won't comprehend what you're looking at unless you take the time to see more of it. Biking is the ideal way with shorter time and people who may not be in shape for hiking. The trails are pretty flat, offer incredible views, and are suitable and fun for almost everyone!

Hike & Bike Near the House

Our house just downhill from the 12 crosses loop that features 12 life size crosses scattered through a woodlands hike. A wonderful place to pray, meditate and reflect. We are also near the urban trails on Route 66 and Mcmillan Mesa trail system that connects to Buffalo Park and Mt Elden trail system. If you bring your mountain bike or hiking shoes, you're sure to be able to do some beautiful morning walks before your other sight seeing.

Weather is Very Moody in Flagstaff

Flagstaff's weather is generally GORGEOUS. However, it's a bit moody on occasion. We have randomly seen snow in every month of the year in Flagstaff except July (blame high elevation!) but also hot weather every month of the year. It's highly variable. Come prepared for any kind of weather, and especially if you're doing outdoor activities pack jackets no matter which month you're coming.
