It's the closest cafe to the house. It's a 2 minute drive, or a 15 minute walk (although you'll have to walk down a steeper path and along the main highway for a bit!). It's in a shopping centre with a Countdown supermarket and various other stores

If you want a break and in the house you can go for a stroll along the Shotover River. Best route is to turn left at the end of Snowshill Lane, and follow the road down the hill past the turning circle. When you get to the corner, take the small path leading off to the right at the bottom of the hill. Head long the 4 wheel drive track until you get to the main road. Walk towards the main road bridge then go down to the river. Walk back the way, and up to the foot bridge, turning back to the car park before crossing the bridge. You can then walk back up into Quail Rise and up to the top of Ferry Hill Road to Snowshill Lane. Round trip about 40 minutes walk.

Sightseeing

Its a good way to get above Queenstown with incredible 360 views across the lake, to the mountains and over the back of town. This is a relatively steep walk in some places (but not a problem if you're healthy). Head past where most people stop at the 'garden of dreams' and head straight to the summit to see the views over the back.
